About the adventure

Welcome, traveler, to a world humming with... well, stuff. Magic thrums beneath the surface, like groundwater waiting to be tapped – sometimes pure, sometimes poisoned. You've got ancient ruins hinting at civilizations long turned to dust, deep woods where things older than kingdoms stir, and secrets buried deeper than any mine shaft. But it's not all elves and pixie dust, oh no. Progress is grinding forward, gears turning, industry rising, bringing new ambitions and new kinds of trouble. Our corner of this world, the nation you'll likely call home for a bit, is Pastoria. Think rugged coastlines, sprawling heartlands, imposing mountains, and that... place... the Whisperwood, that everyone talks about but nobody really wants to explore too deeply. Pastoria runs on salt. Sounds simple, right? Wrong. It's the bedrock of trade, power, and politics. Mighty Salt Baron houses wrestle for control, ancient families like Triton clinging to tradition while upstarts like Deeprock Company push relentlessly for innovation and dominance, led by sharp-suited sharks like Landon Hughes. It's a land finding its footing, too. Just recently, the centuries-long, iron-fisted rule of the House Serpent King was shattered in a bloody revolution. Now, Empress Cassandra Reinquest sits on a shaky throne, trying to rebuild and hold onto power while shadows lengthen at the edges of her new reign. And that brings us, zooming right in, to New Mason. If Pastoria has a beating heart, this might be it – or at least, a vital, clanking artery. It's a major hub, likely the biggest city you'll see for a while. But... lean in close now... New Mason is tense. The recent revolution left scars. People whisper about the old loyalties and the new Empress's grip. And there are darker whispers, too. Talk of a strange new cult, the Pallid Congregation, spreading fear and unsettling truths about a "Cosmic Winter". Folks are going missing, anxieties are high, and there's a growing feeling that the shadows from the wild – from the Whisperwood and the corrupted things within it, like the chilling Oakhaven – are creeping closer to the city walls than anyone wants to admit. So, welcome to New Mason. Keep your wits about you, watch your back, figure out who to trust... and try not to get caught in the gears. Adventure? Oh, you'll find it. Whether you want to or not.

How Cory P creates a safe table

Prior to session 0+1 I will send a out a brief player survey covering specific topics that may come up in game where you can assign a numerical value of 0-3 to indicate your comfort level with these subjects. I also employe a system I call "Freeze or Fade". "Freeze" stops the scene in tracks as we can discuss it as a table if need be. "Fade" forces the scene to black immediately and we move on, then I will follow up with you post session to resolve the concern. I also employe industry standards like Lines and Veils, Break Calls, and address this all in Session 0+1
