About the adventure
You find yourself in possession of a ticket to ride the Ghostlight Express, a spectral train that ferries souls to the afterlife. This trip through the mists of death leaves you stranded in a mysterious valley, where isolated peoples are terrorized by restless dead, wicked hags, ravenous monsters, and many other creatures of the night that never ends. You and the other wayward souls you find yourself with must contend with a complex web of evil if you hope to survive your time in the valley and save the lives of Druskenvald’s inhabitants. While victory is possible, the cost will be tremendous, and many souls will likely be lost. And yet, while there is only a ghost of a chance that salvation can be achieved, it is a hope all the same. Only you who embark on this adventure can determine the fate of all who dwell beneath the Crooked Moon. 🎃 13 new Halloween-inspired species 🎃 15 Folk Horror Subclasses 🎃 New spells, items, monsters, curses, and more! Game vibes include: 🔷 A balanced mix of roleplay, exploration, and combat 🔷 A welcoming table for brand-new players and longtime fans alike This campaign is perfect for players who: ✅Love a more serious tone with room for comedic relief ✅Want their character arc woven into the narrative ✅Enjoy dark fantasy with emotional weight It is not ideal for players who: ❌ Are looking for a game that rewards min/max character creation (there are games for this, just not mine!) ❌ Want the goofy style of Legends of Avantris (same with this!) ❌ Don't respect other players (there are not games for this.) A few notes on roleplay: Everyone has a different comfort level with roleplay, and I make room for that at my table. 🔷 Voices and accents are welcome but not required or expected. 🔷 You can describe what your character does in 1st person(I check the chest for traps) or 3rd person(Chetney checks the chest for traps) 🔷 While persuasive in-character dialogue is always fun, you don't need to be as charismatic as your character. That's what the dice are for!

About me
🏳️🌈 I started playing D&D 5 years ago and it immediately became my passion. I’ve been GMing for about two years now, both in person and online. All I want is more D&D in my life! My table is welcoming, inclusive, and LGBTQ+ friendly. I want everyone to feel safe, respected, and excited to show up and play. Whether you’re newer to the game or very experienced, my goal is to create a collaborative space where we can tell a good story together. A small but important thing: I want to use my GM earnings to buy and share more content on D&D Beyond so my players have access to more options and resources.

Creating your character
🔹 Level 1 🔹 Point Buy 🔹 dndbeyond.com 🔹 Species from The Crooked Moon or PHB I will give you a link to the campaign so that you can use all of the content I have unlocked! If you haven't used D&D Beyond before, don't worry. I am more than happy to help you with the process. The Crooked Moon introduces a new concept called Fateweaving(Please do not look this up or you will get spoilers. I will provide the information that players are supposed to know). We will use this together to create a backstory that weaves perfectly with the campaign! Other settings to know: ☑️2024 rules ☑️Rolled HP (minimum of average) ☑️No encumbrance ☑️Use prerequisites for feats and multiclass ☑️Milestone levels As stated in my safety rules, no characters that are explicitly evil or selfish.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
🔹 Headset/microphone 🔹 Discord (free) 🔹 D&D Beyond account (free) 🔹 AboveVTT (free, no account needed, simply download the browser extension for Chrome or Firefox) Worried about learning a new tool? AboveVTT is incredibly easy to use. If you can navigate your character sheet on D&D Beyond, you can use this!
What Laura brings to the table
☑️ Free session 0 ☑️ A safe space for all! This is a positive place that welcomes all and is a LGBTQ+ space ☑️ Access to all the content I own on D&D Beyond ☑️ Availability for questions between sessions ☑️ Poor attempts at NPC voices so you can laugh and feel comfortable trying your own ☑️ A middle ground between RAW and Rule of Cool ☑️ Ambient music to immerse you in the setting(you will have control of the volume) ☑️ My face! I aim to be on camera as much as possible to create a better connection and feel more like an in-person game. NOTE: There is zero pressure or expectation for players to be on camera unless they want to be ☑️ Bonus: I used to work tech support, so not only do I have immense patience but I can usually help you figure out any technical issues
Homebrew rules
🔹Flanking bonus TBD by the group before starting (nothing, advantage, or +2) 🔹Spell scrolls can be used by any class 🔹Potions as a bonus action is now RAW as of 2024! 🔹HP is rolled, but if you get lower than the average you can take the average instead

How Laura creates a safe table
Again, this is a positive place that welcomes all and is an LGBTQ+ space. During session 0 I will send a link to the web-based Deck of Player Safety. If you want to check it out beforehand, this is the site: https://app.demiplane.com/dops ❌ The X Card: The X Card can be used at any point in the game to remove content that someone at the table finds uncomfortable, triggering, or deals with subject matter they don’t want to get into. Because we are online, the most effective way to use the X card is to say "X Card" out loud. You may also type it into chat or cross your arms(if on video). If an X card is played, I will clarify what content they are playing the X Card for, and the group will change, retcon, or delete the content as needed. The X Card player does not have to explain why they played it, and no one at the table can argue against the X Card being played. ⛔Zero tolerance policy for harassment of any kind. This includes breaking safety and consent lines. By joining you agree to the following: 🔹 I wont attack other players or steal from them (PVP) 🔹 I will not play a character who is explicitly evil or selfish 🔹 I will respect the narrative consent of others and be a team player 🔹 I promise not to engage in problematic play and I will come to the table with a great attitude
