About the adventure
Through an impossible stroke of fate, the Deck of Many Things has been scattered to the winds of Faerun. In The Journey of Many Things, you and your party will traverse the expanse of Faerun, all in hopes of recovering the cards of the Deck of Many Things, or... dealing with their impact on reality. Perhaps others are aware of the existence of the cards. Perhaps some cards have already been found and turned. Most in Faerun, however, are currently focused on threats from a subterranean invading army, The Crawl. In this campaign, available for players of any experience, you will have the opportunity to explore the breadth of lore and the world of the Forgotten Realms and beyond.

About me
Hi there! My name is Shaun, and I've been wrapped up in D&D for almost 5 years now. Have played in about a dozen campaigns during that time, run a few one shots, and am currently GMing a long-term campaign for friends. Would love to spread the fun to a new group! I take pride in incorporating everyone's interests and stories into a collaborative adventure.

Creating your character
I will discuss characters and character creation with each person prior to Session 0. During Session 0, we will finalize anyone's character questions and go over rules, lines, etc. We will be creating characters in D&D Beyond at level 1 to start this campaign. I will import those Beyond characters sheets into Foundry for VTT. Stats will be Point Buy. A majority of the formal content in D&D Beyond will be useable, and I will discuss and work you on anything beyond that and its feasibility.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
The apps and sites we will use for this campaign are Discord, D&D Beyond, and Forge VTT.
What Fogstep brings to the table
I do my best to work on and run specific NPC voices! Laugh if you must! I also have a few smaller custom house rules around potion consumption and short rests. And I try to maintain a healthy balance of Rule of Cool and RAW, looking for creative ways for the player to let their character shine.
Homebrew rules
- Health Potions: When consuming a health potion, you may use and Action to gain the full amount of hit points from it without rolling, OR you may use a Bonus Action to quickly chug it and roll for the HP recovered. - Gear Reputation: As your character progresses through the campaign, try to think about one piece of their "signature" gear, like their main weapon, or their armor, etc. At different levels throughout the campaign, this item will also level up, bumping up in rarity and power. - Hero Points: Each player will have a single Hero Point to use at any point during the campaign. This Hero Point is not necessarily an automatic success, however, it will let your character break through the borders of standard rules for that specific moment. I will talk through the use of the hero point with you if/when it is used. - Feat Acquisition: Don't be shy. A free feat may potentially be gained through pushing your character through RP or combat or general story moments. - Short Rests: A short rest will generally be about 15 minutes. If you need more time, you may choose 30, 45, or 60 minutes. If you are in a generally dangerous area like a dungeon or wilderness, your odds of being interrupted will increase depending on the length of your short rest. Interruption odds on a d20: 15 minutes = 1-2 30 minutes = 3-6 45 minutes = 7-12 60 minutes = 13-20 - Inspiration: A player may give 1 other player inspiration for something specific that said player did at the end of each session if they wish. A player cannot receive more than 1 inspiration at a time.
