About the adventure

The Obojima setting is cozy, light hearted, and whimsical. Obojima is inspired by Studio Ghibli films and The Legend of Zelda video games. This setting is great for players who are looking for a game that's laid back and primarily driven by the narrative and role playing. That being said, there is still combat in Obojima and it can get demanding if that's what the table desires. We will have a Session 0 to get to know each other, get characters created, and sort out any technical challenges. We will utilize the D&D Beyond and Discord platforms. A free account is required for D&D Beyond and Discord. They both have paid tiers but this is NOT required. The paid tiers are for additional content not core functionality. D&D Beyond will be used for character creation and management.

About me

I've been a D&D player since the days of 3.5 and returned to the game in 2023 and learned 5e. I've ran many one-shots for D&D, Bunkers and Badasses, and Obojima. I've also been in a Pathfinder 2e game campaign for nearly two years now. I started GM-ing as a volunteer at a local game store and loved doing it so much that I applied to become a professional GM with them and after an audition they hired me on. I started my professional GM career in 2025 and can't wait to broaden my horizons. I'm currently running an ongoing Dragonlance 5e campaign, paid one-shots, community volunteer one-shots, and an Obojima campaign for my friends and family. I own a license for Foundry VTT and host my own server. I have a considerable library of content on D&D Beyond and have been recently running games on their Maps VTT. I've been a Discord user since it's first year in service and have hosted and participated in live and play via post games. I'd also be willing to learn to use another platforms (i.e. Roll20, Mirrorscape, Owlbear Rodeo) if necessary. I'm eager to branch out on my professional GM career and hope that I can bring joy to your table.

Character creation

Creating your character

Character creation is be handled by using D&D Beyond for character generation and updates. Once the campaign has been created, a link will be generated and provided to the player to allow them to join the campaign. Once enrolled, all related content for the Obojima setting will be made available for character generation and setting research. Once the player has created their character, they will submit it to me using the link generated when creating the character via Discord private message. Once I've received the link, I will review the character to ensure nothing has been missed and that it is appropriate for the session.

The current party

Obojima has 11 new subclasses. Once you joined the campaign on D&D Beyond, I'd highly recommend accessing the Obojima source book and giving them a look. There are some very interesting new subclasses. Ideally, the party should have at least one martial character, one character with healing of some sort, a rogue is always handy, a damage dealer, and it never hurts to have a smooth talker.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

We will use two services for these sessions, D&D Beyond and Discord. Both services require free accounts to be created if the player doesn't already have one. Both applications have mobile device clients however the VTT feature requires a computer. The Discord mobile device client allows you to use all of it's voice and text communication abilities. The D&D Beyond mobile client allows you to manage your character sheet, perform dice rolls, look up information, and more. The D&D Beyond application does NOT allow you to use it for VTT on mobile devices. A microphone is required for voice chatting on Discord. D&D Beyond: https://dndbeyond.com Discord: https://discord.com Prior to the session, please ensure that you have joined the Discord server and have your characters D&D Beyond page loaded in your browser or on your device.

What Travis Sluss brings to the table

I will create the campaign via D&D Beyond. Once players have joined they will have access to all of the necessary materials for the session (i.e. Obojima, Players Handbook, Monster Manual, etc.). If maps are required for the session, I will utilize the D&D Beyond Maps VTT and provide the maps. If players prefer to play with ambiance music, I will also play music from the official Obojima Soundtrack.
