About the adventure

You will be sailing across the Wildsea in a standard campaign. The Wildsea is a game of exploration in a very weird world, covered by oceans of rapidly regenerating mega-trees. There are ports stationed on anchored landmasses, but the trees of the Wildsea roil and crash like the waves of any ocean. Danger abounds, but so does companionship and camaraderie. Take to the sea and carve your name upon legend. You will create your crew, decide on your starting vessel, and choose goals with your fellow players. Is your crew out for wealth and riches on the green sea? Do you want to discover what lies deep beneath the boughs, from whence no one has returned to tell tales? Perhaps you wish to be cartographers, providing updated maps to nearby settlements in desperate need? Or is monster hunting more your speed? There is always need of those who would take down the great beasts for food and equipment. The Wildsea is open to all, just remember the one rule - NO. OPEN. FLAME. The Wildsea is based on the fantastic ruleset presented by Blades in the Dark, with some modification and extension of course. It also has some incredible character creation tools that I will be happy to walk all players through.

About me

Howdy hey! I'm a Dungeon Master with over 15 years of experience running games and shepherding players through amazing experiences. The role was foisted upon me when some friends in college said they wanted to try this new-fangled thing called Pathfinder. I was the only one who had previously played an RPG, that being DnD 3rd edition, so I took up the mantle of game master for that group. Little did I know it would light a fire in my heart that burns to this day. I have a deep love for games in general, with a huge wall of board games behind me and degree in game programming on my resume. I firmly believe that the more specific mechanics of certain games lend themselves toward specific experiences. I believe people ought to be willing to try new systems to pursue new experiences! I am of course comfortable with D&D, it's fantastic, but I love to run indie games for those beautiful, unique storytelling tools. Running many systems has taught me skills to enhance every game I run. Pathfinder taught me how to crunch, Dungeon World taught me a solid foundation for RPG gaming via campaign fronts and soft/hard actions, Blades taught me to always been skipping to the action (when appropriate of course) and how mechanics drive the experience, Numenera taught me to be comfortable with not knowing or understanding and how to bask in wonder. Come, sit by the fire, and tell a story with us over at Fang & Fable.

Creating your character

Our first session is free! I will walk us through character creation and open up a discord chat for questions at any time.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

I would deeply appreciate if people could read the rules beforehand but I am also more than happy to teach people how to play! I plan to use Alchemy VTT for this campaign. They have wonderful tools for The Wildsea. Please download the application before game-time. https://app.alchemyrpg.com/

What Steffan Mouton - Fang & Fable brings to the table

I like to use ambient music quite a bit. I care deeply for immersion and I do my best to bring the worlds I shepherd into vivid detail for my players. Combat will be intense, but not grid-based. I run all my games fiction-first, but use the rules of the game as much as possible to ensure we are all on the same page!

Safety

How Steffan Mouton - Fang & Fable creates a safe table

I will provide a link to a shared document regarding Lines and Veils, so they are available for everyone to see. I will also go over them in Session 0. The X-Card is usable in Alchemy, so that option will always be available to any player at any time. After we play, I like to check on my players and ask for feedback. I love tailoring my games for any table, and this is how I do that! Feel free to discuss anything that made you uncomfortable, or anything I can do better in the future. Want to see more of something? Less of something? I am extremely flexible and happy to modify my style for every table.
