About the adventure
Burial at Sea is a game set in the Forgotten Realms featuring high stakes action, homebrew ship combat mechanics, and lots of roleplay. You will start the game as part of a pirate crew who have just captured the captain of a rival pirate crew. Although victory should seem sweet, not all is as it seems and your victory may not be so simple after all. This game is intended for people who enjoy movies like Pirates of the Caribbean or The Mummy (the one from the 90's, not the remake). If you enjoy a game with tactical combat, roleplay, and a dash of horror then this is the campaign for you! This will be a mini campaign (more like the length of a module), and is intended to last for 3-5 sessions.

About me
Howdy! My name is Ellie. I have been playing and DMing DND 5e and a host of other systems (such as Masks, Monster of the Week, Good Society, and have even made my own TTRPG system) for almost 10 years. I would love to take my skill set and use it to host even more games. DMing is super fun for me, and I love coming up with new modules and story ideas to have a good time with players foiling my plans every step of the way. I am part of the LGBT community, and when I host games you can be sure that it is a safe space for any queer players. I also do not tolerate racism, sexism, or any other hateful content or speech at my tables. I aim to make my games fun and safe for all involved. On this note, I utilize the X card so that players know they can take a time out any time if needed to discuss how to proceed if they are uncomfortable with a current situation in game. I am open to almost any setting or system that you want to try. I am a flexible, highly collaborative DM who plays for the love of the game. Please feel free to message me any specific questions on discord.

Creating your character
We will be making characters together during session 0 (which will be free). We will use standard array and be starting at level 5. Unearthed arcana is totally fine, but please refrain from using homebrew classes or races.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
Please have a mic, a roll20 account, and a discord account. If you are new to DnD 5e, please familiarize yourself with the basic rules of DnD 5e (2014) for combat. If you have a specific class in mind, please familiarize yourself with that class before session 0. I am more than happy to provide resources to help you learn the system!
What Ellie brings to the table
We will be utilizing roll20 for the virtual tabletop, and using discord for voice/video chat. I am a GM who loves tactical combat and roleplay! I like setting up challenging combats that involve environmental elements to keep things interesting. I'm always down to clown, and will work with you as a co-conspirator rather than an adversarial DM. You can expect a highly collaborative game with lots of opportunities for roleplay and combat.

How Ellie creates a safe table
We will be having a free session 0 together so we can build characters! We will also go over table norms together. I have a zero tolerance policy for bigotry at my table. We will also be utilizing the x card. A player can activate the x card by simply using the phrase "x card" while in game. Then we will work together to move forward. I do my very best to handle sensitive topics with care, and generally I view TTRPGs as escapist fantasy so I don't really put in a whole lot of real world issues in the first place.
