About the adventure

Bisquiet is the hottest open secret on Ivory Row: a fashionable bakery frequented by Spire’s aelfir elite, yet staffed and owned entirely by drow. You play new employees recently hired to help the shop survive its sudden popularity. In truth, you are Ministry agents in disguise, sent to support the owners’ resistance work and quietly assess whether success has begun to change them. This campaign blends urban fantasy, political intrigue, and dark comedy. Play revolves around the daily rhythm of the bakery, the morning rush, lunch chaos, evening stampede, and late-night clean-up, where polite service, whispered secrets, and impossible customers collide. You will navigate social pressure, favors, and cover maintenance while juggling sabotage, covert action, and an escalating investigation into a missing aelfir war hero that increasingly points toward your shop. The comedy comes from absurd customers, surreal baked goods, and the constant tension of pretending everything is fine while it very much is not. My style favors character-driven scenes, recurring NPCs, and consequences that follow you from one session to the next. Combat exists, but danger is more often expressed through leverage, exposure, and social fallout. Beginners are welcome, and no prior experience with Spire: The City Must Fall is required. I will teach the system as we play. Bisquiet is the starting point, not the end. If the group is enjoying the characters and tone, we can continue beyond the scenario into additional Spire stories and original arcs shaped by your choices, your compromises, and the enemies you make along the way.

About me

I’m a storyteller at heart and a worldbuilder by trade — literally! I’m a published freelance writer for Pathfinder, and I bring that same creative energy into every game I run. Whether I’m expanding on a published setting or crafting a universe from scratch, I love giving players a world that feels alive, textured, and ready to explore. My tables lean narrative-first, with a focus on character, story, and meaningful choices — but don’t worry, I can run a crunchy, tactical combat with the best of them when the system calls for it (and I actually enjoy it!). I run regular campaigns both in-person and online, and I love welcoming new players and helping them find their groove, whether it’s their first session or their hundredth. I’m a system polyglot with a passion for variety. Right now, I’m deep into Traveller, Forged in the Dark games, Spire, Call of Cthulhu, and Delta Green, but I’ve got deep roots in old-school D&D and both Pathfinder 1e and 2e. If you’re looking for a GM who’s excited to tell great stories, teach the game, and help your character shine, you’ve found your seat at the table. Let’s play.

Character creation

Creating your character

We will begin with a Session 0 before regular play starts. This session is used to introduce the setting, walk through the rules, establish safety tools, and create characters together. Characters are created using Spire: The City Must Fall. New players are very welcome, and no prior experience with Spire is required. I will guide the group through character creation step by step, including choosing classes, assigning skills, and defining stress, fallout, and connections to the bakery. Players may either: - Create a character during Session 0 with group guidance, or - Choose from pre-generated characters designed specifically for Bisquiet All characters begin play at the same stage of play, with advancement driven by stress, fallout, and story consequences rather than traditional levels. In addition to the core rules, I am open to using other official Spire supplements. Options and boundaries can be discussed in Discord prior to Session 0 or finalized during Session 0. Session 0 also establishes each character’s cover role in the bakery and their ties to the resistance, so everyone starts the campaign with clear purpose and shared context.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

After you sign up, you will receive an invitation link to the game’s Discord server. Please join the server before Session 0, as this is where announcements, coordination, and discussion will take place. We will use Roll20 for play. A Roll20 link will be shared in Discord prior to Session 0. You do not need to prepare anything in Roll20 in advance. Before Session 0, please: - Join the Discord server using the link provided - Make sure you have a working microphone and stable internet connection - Review any brief notes or prompts shared in Discord All rules explanations, character creation, and setup will be handled during Session 0. No prior reading or system knowledge is required.

What Michael brings to the table

I focus on atmosphere, character, and consequence. Expect a living setting with recurring NPCs, evolving relationships, and situations that respond meaningfully to your choices. The bakery is treated as a persistent space, with routines, pressures, and interruptions shaping play from session to session. I will do my best to make key NPCs distinct through voice, mannerisms, and perspective, while keeping scenes clear and easy to follow. Humor is present, often dark or situational, emerging naturally from character interactions and the strange logic of Spire rather than from jokes that break immersion. Rules are used to support the story rather than constrain it. I run Spire as written, especially around stress, fallout, and consequences, but prioritize clarity and momentum over rules debates. I will explain mechanics as they arise and make sure everyone understands their options. You can expect a collaborative table that values player agency, communication, and respect. The goal is a game that is tense, humane, and occasionally funny, where your choices matter and the city remembers what you do.

Homebrew rules

I do not use any standing homebrew rules. We will play Spire: The City Must Fall largely as written, especially around stress, fallout, and consequences. As the campaign develops, we may make small adjustments to improve clarity, pacing, or table comfort. Any changes will be discussed openly with the group before being used. I am also open to character options from other official Spire supplements. Any additional material will be agreed on together, either in Discord before Session 0 or during Session 0.

Safety

How Michael creates a safe table

Player safety and comfort are a priority at this table. We will begin with a Session 0 to establish expectations, review themes, and set boundaries before play begins. Each session will include a planned break partway through, and additional breaks are always available if needed. We will use Lines and Veils, with time set aside in Session 0 to define them together. Players may also share boundaries privately if preferred. During play, we will use X, N, and O cards, which can be communicated verbally or through chat at any time and never require explanation. At the end of sessions, we will use Stars and Wishes to check in, highlight what worked well, and identify what players would like more or less of going forward. Follow-up check-ins can also happen in Discord if anyone wants to talk privately. Bisquiet explores heavy themes, including oppression, coercion, and violence. These safety tools are in place to ensure the game remains tense and engaging while staying respectful and comfortable for everyone.
