About the adventure
Strahd is gone… but Barovia was never meant to be free. In the wake of his disappearance, the land has begun to change. Cities are stabilizing. Monsters are fewer. A new divine order is rising. But something is wrong in the heavens: one god has been replaced by an imposter, another has already fallen, and a mortal prophet empowered by a dying, silent deity is attempting to “fix” reality itself. The terrifying truth? Their plan might be the only thing holding the world together. The Crown of the Hollow Sun is a gothic horror campaign that evolves into a mythic, high stakes epic about faith, power, and who deserves authority. You’ll navigate cities ruled by fear-- confront beloved heroes who serve a darker cause, explore ruined holy sites and decaying divine realms, and ultimately decide whether to restore the gods, destroy them, or ascend and take their place. This is a morally complex story where villains have reasons, victories come at a cost, and your choices permanently reshape the setting. This game is for players who love character-driven storytelling, meaningful consequences, and tactical combat that rewards smart play. I enjoy running emotionally rich narratives where backstories matter, NPCs have depth, and combat feels dangerous and cinematic. Expect challenging encounters, political tension, divine horror, and long-term arcs where your decisions ripple outward. New and experienced players are welcome-- as long as you’re excited to engage, collaborate, and lean into the drama! If you enjoy slow-burn mysteries, morally gray antagonists, and stories that ask big questions like “Is stability worth tyranny?” or “Should anyone wield divine power?” --you’ll feel right at home here. If you enjoy slow-burn mystery, and where your choices matter, come along for the adventure!

About me
Hi! Willow, a storyteller and Game Master with about ten years of dice rolling, world building, and plot twisting experience. Most of which has been Play-by-Post. I run a wide variety of systems! Dungeons & Dragons, Godbound, Vampire: The Masquerade, other World of Darkness titles, City of Mist, and more; because I love matching the right game to the right group. I’m online and available 12+ hours a day through discord, which means I’m flexible, responsive, and ready to support you between sessions. My biggest passion as a DM is investing in my players’ stories: taking your ideas, characters, and wild theories and turning them into unforgettable adventures we build together. Whether you want high drama, fantastical vibes, gritty horror, or chaotic fun, I tailor each campaign to what excites you. When I’m not running games, you’ll probably find me absorbing inspiration from other media or painting in my spare time! Every game I run is crafted with intensive care, creativity, and a genuine love for collaborative storytelling. If you’re looking for a DM who listens, adapts, and brings your imagination to life, I’d love to play with you! Thank you for considerations, and may all your rolls be ever in your favor!

Creating your character
Character creation will happen before the game begins, with a short asynchronous Session 0 discussion to connect characters to the setting and each other. I’ll work with each player individually to help tie your backstory into the divine instability, political tensions, or one of the major factions in Barovia-- your history will matter in this campaign! In addition-- you do NOT need to have played Curse of Strahd to join in! We will begin at Level 3, allowing characters to feel capable and distinctive right away. Ability scores will use Point Buy or Standard Array (your choice), and advancement will be milestone-based. Official Wizards of the Coast material is allowed; if you’d like to use something outside of core books (such as specific supplements or light homebrew), just run it by me first. I prioritize balance and story cohesion over raw optimization. A helpful tip for this campaign, is making characters should come to the table with: -A belief or opinion about authority, faith, or power. -Something meaningful they have lost. -A reason they would risk themselves for the fate of others.

What Sleepy brings to the table
As your GM, I provide a structured, story-driven experience where your choices have real consequences and the world reacts to your actions. NPCs have layered motivations, factions evolve over time, and your character’s backstory will meaningfully shape the narrative. This is a collaborative campaign built around player agency and long-term character arcs. Combat is tactically challenging and dangerous. Enemies fight intelligently, terrain matters, and smart teamwork is rewarded. I generally run close to Rules as Written for clarity and fairness, while allowing cinematic moments when they enhance the story without breaking balance. I prioritize clear formatting, strong scene-setting, consistent pacing-- and narrative momentum. Expect high emotional stakes, morally complex conflicts, and a world that changes around each of your choices. Expectations for players is mutual respect for everyone present, and comfortability. From pacing/writing, to understanding the limitations of others. Barovia is horrifying, but we don't need to be!
Homebrew rules
Drinking potions are bonus actions, I LIKE to do brutal tables/injuries but if that is something the table would prefer to not have-- we can leave it at the door!
