About the adventure
In Waterdeep, the City of Splendors, shadows stretch longer than the towers that cast them. Behind the shining façades of noble estates and bustling markets, the city’s underbelly festers with crime, corruption, and secrets best left unspoken. The City Watch can’t—or won’t—handle it all, and the Masked Lords only see what they want to see. The streets whisper with rumors of smuggling rings, protection rackets, and murders that never make the broadsheets. If justice is to be found, it won’t be at the tip of a Watchman’s blade—it’ll be dug up in the alleys, backrooms, and smoky taverns where the guilty think no one’s watching. That’s where the Waterdeep Detectives Guild comes in. You’re not knights in shining armor—you’re the gumshoes, the bloodhounds, the ones willing to sift through the grime to uncover the truth. Every case means walking a razor’s edge between powerful factions, shady deals, and the city’s many masks. One wrong move could land you in the harbor with stones in your pockets, but that’s the cost of pulling rot into the light. Waterdeep needs someone who can see past the glamour, past the gold, and straight into the heart of the city’s sins. The question is: do you have the grit to do the job?

About me
Love TTRPGs, exploring new worlds, watching adventures unfold telling or telling stories? Me too! I've been a Game Master for over 20 years with countless adventures and campaigns under my belt. My current favorite game is Fabula Ultima, though I have a fascination with Monster of the Week. I have run campaigns in Dungeons and Dragons, Monster of the Week, Blades in the Dark, Star Wars, Shadowrun and many more. I love to mix fantasy, science fiction, horror and mystery into my games but the most important part thing to know is that having fun making character stories are most important aspect of gaming for me.

Creating your character
Characters will be made during session 0 I have DND Beyond with most character options available. We will be starting at level one as new recruits in the detectives guild.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
We will use discord for voice chat and once you join the game you will be invited to my discord server. DND Beyond will be used for character creation and we will try it for the VTT if that fails we will switch to owlbear rodeo. All you need to start is a mic, discord, a free DND Beyond account and a good attitude.
What Nick - Dork Fortress brings to the table
I have most things for 2024 on DND Beyond and plenty of legacy options available. I will have premade characters ready if anyone would like them. I have maps that will be shared over discord and through DND Beyond or owlbear rodeo. If you would like a custom character token please have a picture ready ahead of time. I do character voices but warn everyone that I am no Matt Mercer and I do use ambient background music.
Homebrew rules
I haven't found any that I use but I'm open to trying them. I also do not mind re-flavoring things to fit character concepts.

How Nick - Dork Fortress creates a safe table
This game is designed to be an enjoyable experience and it will not sacrifice one players experience for the good of the story. There are lines that will not be crossed. No sexism, slurs racial or otherwise, and the only hate that will be allowed is for the monsters and enemies you face.
