About the adventure

For both new and experienced players alike. Ashes of empires litter the land, and the old gods are listening. Cities smolder, crowns lie shattered, and forgotten temples whisper secrets that were never meant to be heard. The war has ended, but victory has brought no peace—only ruin, uncertainty, and the uneasy sense that the world itself is holding its breath. Beneath the roads, beneath the battlements, beneath the graves of kings and rebels alike, something older than empires stirs. Something that has waited patiently through centuries of silence, waiting for the cracks that war has left behind. You will take the role of adventurers, exiles, or scholars in a land on the edge of collapse. Power is fragile, loyalties are fleeting, and every choice can awaken forces that predate memory. Temples, crypts, and ruins dot the landscape, hiding lost magics and secrets that can grant influence—or curse the unwary. Allies may betray, enemies may hold truths you cannot yet comprehend, and even the smallest decision can ripple through a world already teetering on the edge of chaos. This is a game of dark fantasy, intrigue, and moral complexity. Combat is deadly, secrets are dangerous, and the past refuses to remain buried. Diplomacy, cunning, and careful observation are just as powerful as sword and spell. Every ruin explored, every text deciphered, and every choice made may draw you closer to powers that should have remained asleep. The war broke crowns, shattered oaths, and cracked the seals that kept the old powers contained. Now, the air hums with their awakening. Step carefully, read the signs, and discover what the war has truly unleashed. The land remembers. The gods remember. And whatever stirs beneath the ashes will not wait for anyone to be ready.

About me

I’ve been GM-ing for about five years, mostly D&D 5e, and I’m starting to get into 3.5e. I like player-driven games and adjusting the tone to fit the story and setting, whether things are serious or more laid-back. Most of my experience is running games for friends, so I focus on keeping sessions fun, flexible, and easygoing, and I’m always happy to help with rules or learning the game.

Character creation

Creating your character

Character creation can be done either before the first session or during the first session, as the first session will be a free session 0. Stats will be decided by rolling dice. Players will start at level 1 and will be leveling up by milestone. Characters can be created with official or homebrew material. Any homebrew material used in character creation must be brought to attention and approved in order to be used.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

The only requirement is Discord, as sessions will take place in a dedicated server for the campaign, complete with voice channels, private channels between characters (party and/or individual), resources, etc.

What Aurelian II brings to the table

I do a bit of a mix of Rule of Cool and Rules as Written. I'm flexible in the determinations of how actions and rules are intertwined. I utilize character voices for each important npc. Ambient music is used depending on the mood of the party. If the party would like some ambient music, then I'll have some going

Homebrew rules

Potions as bonus actions, rolling for a skill check gets harder the more attempts you make with the same method Any other homebrew rules can be brought up by players and implementation can be decided based on a party vote

Safety

How Aurelian II creates a safe table

Keywords will be discussed during session 0. A set 15 minutes post session will be dedicated to a check in with players on how they felt about the session. Keywords indicating an immediate stop or shift in scene can be messaged directly in cases where discretion is preferred by the requesting party. In such an event, communication will be held immediate to go over any sort of aid that member should/may need in that moment.
