About the adventure

For those seeking to survive in an iron "cascet" in an ocean of blood, and for those who wish to celebrate and honour the success of Iron Lung, Markiplier, David Szymanski and everyone else behind the two projects by immersing themselves in a DND horror experience similar to the Iron Lung projects. IMPORTANT: This game is inspired by Iron Lung film by Markiplier, based on the game Iron Lung by David Szymanski. I wanted to create this in honour of the success of both, and for those who wish to play DND in a similar setting. THERE ARE NO SPOILERS for either of them, as the story, the characters and the setting are different from both the game and the movie. THIS IS AN INSPIRED EXPRIENCE, and not an official continuation of either project nor any way linked to Markiplier or Szymanski. DESCRIPTION: You are prisoners with a purpose, sealed in an iron submarine made of spare parts by the greatest artificers still alive, heading into an ocean of blood, so that your kingdom may live on, and you may regain your freedom. Others have been sent into the ruthless depths of this red world, and none of them have returned. As you enter into your journey, you see death, bones of a massive beast, and horrors barely kept away by the submarine. The submarine itself is not doing so well, and requires constant attention in order for you to not drown inside. You see clues as to what caused the world to disappear, and you see things you could not even imagine to fear until today. But the worst of all is, you know that they do not care if you return alive or not. You know that the images you capture could turn out to be nothing at all. You know the crime you did. And yet, in this hopeless red ocean you can't help but to think... Somewhere out there lies your freedom. And you will find it. You will find it, so that they may not get their execution. You and your crew are not meant to survive. But it is possible. As long as you do not let the hope in you be extinguished.

About me

AS A PERSON? I am a professional actor, a university-certified nerd, a life-long gamer and an undeniable geek, creating and consuming all things fantasy. AS A DM? I have been DM'ing games for a little over 2 years now and playing dnd for almost 5 years, dnd 5e having been the very first edition I ever played, so still relatively fresh and enthusiastic about this wonderful game. MY MAIN STRENGHTS lie in story-focused games where roleplaying gets you far, the NPC's have a variety of funny voices and equally tragic backstories, and the player character's backstories will have an impact on the story, in both heartwarming and grim ways. I bring my skills and knowledge as an actor and a writer to the forefront in order to give you the best experience I can. WHAT KIND OF GAMES AND STORIES DO I LIKE TO RUN? I like morally grey decisions, goofy and weird situations, and using the game to explore variety of topics. At one moment you are healed by a joyfully singing cupcake dancing atop your head, while a moment later death comes to collect your siblings because they pissed of an elder god or sold her soul to a devil. Whether you are looking for a lighthearted escapist fantasy, a dark story where you are the only light and hope, confronting what it means to be alive or a combination of all, I might have just the game for you.

Character creation

Creating your character

Use any DND 2024/5.5e options (class, subclasses, species, backgrounds...) Create a level 4 hero. You may use unearthed arcana (play tests) or 5e (2014) classes and subclasses if your chosen class isn't found in the newest DND edition releases. Multiclassing is allowed. Only homebrew options are not allowed. Assign following dnd ability scores (levels) to your chosen abilities. 20, 18, 16, 12, 10, 8 OR 18, 16, 14, 14, 12, 10 You do not add anything to these from species or background, only if you take ability score improvement or feats that increase stats at levels 1 and 4. Your starting equipment is determined by your starting class options and background options. Prepare for combat, puzzles, and tests of skills. INT-based characters, WIS-based characters, combat-focused characters and skill monkeys are especially useful for this One Shot.

Safety

How Lauri creates a safe table

We will start the session with a "session zero" type intro, where players can introduce their characters and we can talk about lines, vales, wishes, safety and trigger warnings. This will take approximately 30min, depending on the need, after which we will head into the game. The game itself is based on horror, but depending on the players some adjustments can be made if needed. It is important that we all feel safe and cared for, hence the session 0 opening at the start of the one shot. There will also be a short debriefing afterwords, and an opportunity to talk more for those who feel they want to or need to afterwards.
