About the adventure

Mission: The Two-Headed Serpent (Mythveil Edition) is a high-stakes pulp-modern Call of Cthulhu campaign where ancient history, forbidden science, and global espionage collide. What begins as a classified discovery buried far from civilization escalates into a worldwide operation spanning jungles, cities, laboratories, and black sites. This is not a story about monsters in the dark. It’s about what happens when humanity discovers it has always been part of the problem. This campaign is built on deep historical, archaeological, and mythological research, re-contextualized through the Rexborn Framework—Mythveil’s method of connecting real-world scholarship, lost civilizations, and speculative science into a single coherent threat. Every location, artifact, and organization is grounded in documented ideas, theories, and fears, then sharpened into something playable, dangerous, and uncomfortably plausible. The horror doesn’t come from jump scares. It comes from recognition. Play is cinematic, fast, and consequence-driven, inspired by classic pulp adventure, Cold War paranoia, and modern espionage thrillers. Expect globe-trotting action, moral pressure, covert operations, and moments where the most terrifying realization is not what the enemy wants—but what you are capable of becoming. Failure does not mean death. It means a world that keeps functioning… just wrong. This game is for players who want intelligent horror, high tension, and agency that matters. You don’t need deep Call of Cthulhu experience—curiosity and courage are enough—but you should enjoy stories where knowledge is a weapon, truth is dangerous, and survival is only the beginning. You are not here to stop the end of the world. You are here to decide what replaces it..

About me

Looking for the cinematic GM your dreams warned you about? That’s me. I was raised by shadows and storybooks, my first GM screen was a cereal box in the ’80s, my dice were chipped — my imagination wasn’t. Since then, I’ve told tales in blood-soaked crypts, neon back-alleys, and forgotten cities buried beneath the sand. I’m not just a Game Master; I’m a narrative architect, a ritualist of consequence, and the creator of Mythveil Chronicles — a living multiverse powered by deep research, emotional storytelling, and a world-simulation engine that reacts to every choice you make. I hold a Master’s in History, Religion, and Philosophy, so even my monsters come with footnotes, and over the decades I’ve run games for hundreds of players, hosted international LARP chronicles, and built campaigns where every NPC, every legend, and every location has roots in real-world folklore. When you play at my table, you’re not just part of a story — you step into a world that breathes with you and without you, and from the moment you arrive, you’re already a legend in the making.

Character creation

Creating your character

Character creation happens before the first session — live with me on Discord. Relaxed. Collaborative. Fun. No paperwork marathons, no rules anxiety. We build your hero together. This is modern Pulp Cthulhu: fast-moving investigations, globe-trotting danger, bold choices, cinematic risks — and just enough cosmic horror to remind you that the universe is bigger than you. Who are you in this story? You’re not doomed academics waiting to go insane. You’re capable people who dare to act. The Operative Field agent, fixer, problem-solver. You know how to move through cities, borders, and bad situations. The Specialist Scientist, archaeologist, doctor, analyst. You understand things others don’t — and that knowledge matters. The Tech & Wheels Expert Vehicles, drones, comms, gear. You keep the team mobile and alive when things go loud. The Occult-Aware You’ve seen enough to know the Mythos is real — and just enough to push back when it shows its teeth. The Face Contacts, charm, lies, and leverage. You open doors before anyone has to kick them in. Hybrid Because pulp heroes never fit neatly in boxes. How character creation works We use Pulp Cthulhu rules, but the process stays easy and human. Stats & Skills Rolled or assigned — your choice. Backstory & Connections Created through conversation, not spreadsheets. Who you trust. Who trusts you. Who’s already in trouble because of you. Gear & Resources Appropriate to a modern, globe-trotting campaign. Nothing excessive — nothing useless. The Pulp Edge You’re tougher, faster, luckier than normal people. You can take risks — and sometimes get away with them. Everything is done together, live on Discord, supported by Foundry. No deep rules knowledge required. Bring: curiosity a sense of adventure the willingness to say “yes” when things escalate This is a game about momentum, mystery, and doing something before it’s too late. The world won’t end today. But if no one steps up? That’s when things get interesting. 🌍✨

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Tools & Setup — smooth and simple (QuestPortal Only) We keep this easy. You’re here to play, not to wrestle software. QuestPortal (Required) Create a free account Install the app (desktop or mobile) This is our main table: character sheets, dice, handouts, notes, scenes. Discord (Required) Discord account + app Used for voice, out-of-game chat, quick coordination, and character creation. StartPlaying / Payments If you booked via StartPlaying, make sure your booking and payment are confirmed. PDF Reader (Optional) For any handouts or rule snippets I send (Acrobat, Preview, etc.). Hardware & Connection Headset with microphone — strongly recommended Clear audio = better immersion. Stable internet connection Wired is best, Wi-Fi is fine if it’s reliable. Webcam (Optional) Nice for immersion, never required. Character Creation & Prep (No Stress) Character creation happens before Session 1 — live with me on Discord + QuestPortal. No solo paperwork. No point-dump marathons. Just bring two sentences: Who you are (your role or archetype — investigator, soldier, grifter, scholar, occult dabbler, etc.) Why you step forward when others back away. Everything else we build together. Time: 30–60 minutes, relaxed and collaborative Session Zero: Mandatory — tone, boundaries, expectations, and team setup. Quick Checklist ✔ QuestPortal account created + app installed ✔ Discord account joined to the campaign server ✔ Headset & mic tested ✔ Two-sentence character concept ready ✔ Available for a 30–60 minute character build before Session Zero On Game Day Join the Discord voice channel 10–15 minutes early Have QuestPortal open Keep notes (QuestPortal notes or paper) Ask questions — this is collaborative play If Something Breaks Bad audio? Switch headset, move closer to router, or use a hotspot QuestPortal issues? DM me on Discord — we’ll fix it fast Rules unclear? I’ll guide you. You don’t need system mastery to play well.

What Dunchan Hunter brings to the table

What Makes This Game Different — Rexborn & Deep Research This is not a pre-written adventure read aloud. This table runs on Rexborn, a living narrative engine built on deep historical, mythological, and cultural research. Every scenario is grounded in real-world sources — archaeology, folklore, intelligence history, occult traditions, and suppressed or forgotten theories — then reshaped into playable horror. Nothing here exists just because it’s “cool.” It exists because it could have been true. Deep Research, Not Lore Dumps You don’t need to read anything in advance. The research lives under the surface: Ancient sites reflect real excavation records Cult structures mirror historical belief systems Conspiracies follow how real intelligence agencies actually operate Artifacts obey internal logic, not handwaving magic You feel the weight of reality without being buried under exposition. Rexborn: A Living Table Rexborn means the world reacts, remembers, and adapts. NPCs track consequences Organizations evolve based on player actions Events continue even if you don’t intervene The setting changes permanently — for better or worse This isn’t a static campaign. It’s a living system that responds to your choices. Player Characters Matter Your character is not just “part of the party.” Your background ties into the world’s hidden structures Your decisions ripple outward Failure doesn’t end the story — it reshapes it Survival may cost more than death You are not observers. You are variables. Tone & Playstyle Expect: Modern pulp horror with cinematic momentum High tension, fast scenes, dangerous choices Mystery that unfolds through action, not lectures Darkness handled with care, consent, and clarity This game is for players who want: Immersion over mechanics Consequences over railroads Atmosphere over jump scares A world that feels alive and hostile

Safety

How Dunchan Hunter creates a safe table

Table Safety & Player Care We run a respectful, adult table. Safety tools are simple, clear, and mandatory — so everyone can lean into the horror without worry. Session Zero Before play, we set the tone together and agree on: Lines (hard no’s — never played) Veils (fade-to-black topics) Expectations for intensity, pacing, and comfort No surprises. No pressure. X-Card (Instant Stop) At any time, for any reason: Say “X” in voice Type ❌ in chat Or DM the GM privately The scene stops immediately. No explanation required. No questions asked. Lines = Never Hard limits that will not appear in play. Examples include: Explicit sexual violence Graphic real-world atrocities Anything a player marks as a Line These are respected without exception. Veils = Fade / Skip Topics that may exist in the world but are not described in detail. Examples: Off-screen torture Medical or body horror beyond comfort We reference, then move on. Private Triggers You may DM the GM before or during the campaign with any personal triggers to avoid. These are confidential and respected fully. If Something Goes Wrong We pause. We edit, skip, or remove the content. A private check-in is offered. If someone is genuinely distressed, we stop — story always comes second to people. Tech & Tools Use ❌ in Discord or QuestPortal chat Say “X” in voice at any time Safety notes are pinned in Discord and QuestPortal One Rule Above All Play with care. If you want different limits or need adjustments, say so at Session Zero — this table adapts. Horror is only fun when everyone feels safe enough to face it.
