About the adventure
This will be a slow paced campaign centered in and around the upcoming city off Varnhollow, a growing power in the region and the Königreich where artificially built golems power the start of an industrial revolution. This immense potential does not go unnoticed throughout the high society, the rich and the powerful of the Königsreich and beyond. Did your character get lured to the city by the whispers of easy riches that can be found here or where you sent by someone who sees this growth as a threat to his own standing and wealth? Are you interested in this new trend of "artificing" or is it upsetting the natural order for you? What current has swept your character onto the docks of that bustling city, I do not know, but we will find out where he goes from there, together. Broken Harts is a world and campaign based on old school 3.5 D&D core rules / setting using Pathfinder 1e mechanics as a foundation for the game. The basic idea behind this world is, how magic would have influenced technological advancement during the time of the industrial revolution in order to combine some steampunk flare with some german engineering. Does it work? Mostly .... but i´m also eager to see what ideas you will come up with.

About me
I´m a German civil engineer with more than 30 years of experience in RPG as player and GM in various systems (D&D, Pathfinder, Shadowrun, Warhammer, Star Wars and so on) In my spare time I tinker on my campaigns, maps and worlds. For campaigns, i prefer long lasting campaigns in the nonlinear open sandbox style, where the party can follow my hints that there might be a story in all this chaos, but the players are free to determine their own path, should that be exploring the world, build their stronghold or dive into the research of, what they believe to be the next breakthrough in magic, tech or bio modding. In general I´ m a RAW GM, but I will adjust them to provide a little more “realistic” feel. Also, those adjustments will (normally) be made before campaign or session start in order to ensure fairplay. The rest, if not everything else, can be called fairly normal.

What to expect
Preparing for the session
We will use Discord and I will function as Foundry server, since this would be my first group on StartPlaying. Please make sure to download MS edge as backup browser app, since foundry seems to have some problems with safari.
What Will brings to the table
In general I'm a RaW kinda guy (German duh), with some minor exceptions. My default setting for character voices is old grumpy, which I rarely stray from. Yes there will be ambient music and sound effects, but due to experience ... you will turn it so far down after the first two sessions that it might not exist. I´m aiming for a good mix between exploring / roleplay and combat and yes combat will be tactical because Pathfinder. I´m a strong supporter of those that would dabble in all sorts of crafting, alchemy, engineering, magic items you name it. If you got the skill, the tools and the will to create something out off a lump of greyish rock powdered dragon horn and a lot of heat...well have at it. Session 0 for questions on your part.
Homebrew rules
I converted the 5e Artificer into a half caster, including specialisations on level 3. Gunslingers are allowed, but with some world setting restrictions. Firearms do not use black powder as propellant but compressed ether instead and they do hit on AC not touch.

How Will creates a safe table
Since we are all adults at my table, I am hopeful that we all can behave like decent human beings and we will get along just fine. But if there is a problem you wish me to address, you can send me a PM on discord or whisper to me in game.
