About the adventure

The Mana Wastes are a desolate strip of desert between two powerful, warring nations. Here firearms and explosives are common weapons of choice to contend with mutated wildlife, malfunctioning automatons, and bands of highwaymen. Within this blighted landscape lies a shining jewel of civilization, announcing its dominance of the environment with the roar of its cannons. A clockwork marvel of brass and brick and steam, the city of Alkenstar has endured through the very innovative spirit that founded it. But high towers cast long shadows, and the scales of justice can be tipped with coins or black powder. This campaign begins at level one, making it perfect for new players looking to get into the game, or for more experienced players to introduce new friends to the system. Players will take on the role of antiheroes working to thwart powerful forces in the City of Smog, either to settle a personal vendetta or just to get rich. The nation this campaign takes place in takes inspiration from Westerns and post apocalyptic media, offering players the chance to play slightly more futuristic characters than one would expect from a fantasy TTRPG.

About me

I began playing tabletop games in 2015 as a way to continue acting until I could return to the stage. I've since fallen in love with them as a storytelling medium, and plan on writing several adventure paths myself. I've had a varied professional history, having worked as a Park Ranger, a cook, and a gardener. In my spare time I cook, write, and wander the world to gather new story material and recipes.

Character creation

Creating your character

Pathfinder has a number of helpful character building apps, but things work best when parties are built together. While I'm happy to work with premade characters, I will host a session 0 to work out concepts as a group. Outlaws of Alkenstar has a character creation guide, which I would love to go over with the group when we begin.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Players will need accounts on both Discord and Foundry. I will reach out with invitations to a discord server and the game lobby.

What Wyatt brings to the table

Free Session 0: I host a free session 0 where I will go over the setting and help build characters. At the end of character creation I'll then run a tutorial combat to introduce the rules to any new players, and allow everyone to test out their build before the campaign begins. Detailed maps, tactical combats: Play through Alkenstar like never before with modified combat encounters, new maps, and dangerous new enemies. Discover a living world: Use your social and knowledge skills to the fullest, making new friends and arming yourself with knowledge.

Homebrew rules

I use the Free Archetype variant rule, but past that stick pretty close to rules as written.

Safety

How Wyatt creates a safe table

I've listed the potential triggers that are most likely come up in the campaign, and can work around any on the list that are troublesome. A checklist that allows you to voice your degree of comfort with individual topics will also be provided. Session 0 is a good time to bring up anything I may have missed, as well as how you personally would like for difficult topics to be handled. Most sessions will have a break in the middle, but they can be requested at any point.
