About me

GMing for 7 years across D&D, Pathfinder, and various smaller systems, preferring brooding narrative games. I ran in person games before the pandemic but now exclusively use Foundry VTT in which I do custom token art for players and bosses.

Character creation

Creating your character

The races are limited a handful but each player gets hand made custom art. I will give every player a one of one meeting to discuss the world and character ideas! This industrial world is a little different from the average D&D 5e setting and its uniqueness is something to to revel in. We will start at level 2 in Foundry VTT and absolutely no prior knowledge of the setting is needed.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Players will only need a Discord account for the custom server I will have ready. Links to things such as foundry will only require a browser that supports it. Connecting to foundry may require temporarily pausing any VPNs. Microphones for voice chat are mandatory, Cameras are optional.

What Astray brings to the table

Custom artwork for characters, places, handouts, and battle maps. Discord integrated music and sounds, foundry images and animations, and NPCs with various accents. When battles do happen they are dynamic and focus on the spirit of the action rather than exact verbiage of the rules within reason. All with 0% AI.

Homebrew rules

I have a handful of tasteful yet impactful rules changes almost entirely related to how combat is run. This includes no opportunity attacks, enemy combat tweaks, alternate initiative rules but everything will be explained in a one on one meeting.

Safety

How Astray creates a safe table

All lines and veils will be discussed in session 0 and added to a dedicated text channel where they will stay for reference or to be added to later. I reserve the right to pause any session in which someone becomes uncomfortable and either discuss what is the cause or allow an affected player to leave. I will also have private channels for player to message me directly should they feel uncomfortable sharing openly. They may use simple letter like X, N and O to convey levels of consent should they not wish to explain.
