Creating your character
Character creation will happen at Session 0. Characters can be made using the 2024 rule set, and will have access to the 2024 Players Handbook if they do not already have access.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
- Internet connection that is stable enough to not cut-out frequently - A Discord account (free) so that you can join in on the group discussion - A microphone Players won't need to read or know the rules ahead of time, as the rules will be explained throughout the game.
What Tom brings to the table
- your backstory woven into the story of Baldur's Gate: Descent Into Avernus itself - custom art for every single creature in the campaign - music appropriate for each setting - interactive maps - hours of prep - a plucky attitude and a Scottish accent
Homebrew rules
Fall damage - no cap! - For every 10 feet that your character falls, they will take 1d6 damage. In the Player Handbook, this caps at 20d6. However, for this game there will be no cap. Potions - If you drink a health potion as an action, you get the maximum possible hit points back. If you drink a health potion as a bonus action, you roll to regain your hit points. - If you want to give a consumable to someone else, it takes an action. If you are giving them health potion, they have to roll to any relevant dice to regain potential hit points. Spells/Feats - No Silvery Barbs, Conjure Animals, Conjure Celestials, Conjure Minor Elementals, Conjure Woodland Beings spells - The Find Steed spell uses the 2024 version. - The Wall of Force spell can trap creatures Large or smaller. Heroic Inspiration - Inspiration Points of inspiration cannot be used on death saving throws Character Creation - Please make sure to use the relevant ruleset when making your character. - No rolling for stats. - Only official D&D content (using the 2024 rules) can be used for character creation.
