About the adventure

Welcome to San Fransapporo, a dynamic West Coast metropolis where superhero dreams collide with coming-of-age challenges. Inspired by the high-energy storytelling of shonen anime like My Hero Academia, this campaign invites players to step into the shoes of emerging teen superheroes navigating a world of incredible powers and complex relationships. Our story will unfold in an episodic style, focusing on character growth, friendship, and the struggle against overwhelming odds. Drawing from The Worst Generation supplement, we'll explore themes of idealism, personal growth, and the power of bonds forged through adversity. Expect pulse-pounding action, emotional character moments, and a gradually unveiling supervillain plot that will test our young heroes at every turn. Players can look forward to one-on-one confrontations, high-stakes battles, and deeply personal character arcs that capture the spirit of shonen storytelling. Whether you're punching down walls, hurling lightning, or racing faster than the eye can see, your journey of self-discovery begins here.

About me

Welcome one and all! I'm an experienced teacher, an avid reader and writer, and a world traveler. I put these aspects into my games to create diverse, immersive worldbuilding and roleplay. I have a lot of experience running games on this platform, and I would love to be your introduction to how it works if you're brand new. I have a love of roleplaying, voice acting, improv, fantasy, and science fiction. I love to guide new GMs and players into the wonderful world of TTRPG. An inclusive table is important, so all are welcome to sit beside me as we adventure. Safety is my number one priority at the table. It's my goal to give everyone a memorable experience. I primarily run Monster of the Week, but I also love Masks, Mothership, Thirsty Sword Lesbians, Daggerheart, and other systems. I provide immersive experiences through a blend of ambient music and sundry characters and maps.

Character creation

Creating your character

We'll conduct character creation during our first session, but players are encouraged to brainstorm character concepts in advance. We'll be using playbooks from the Masks: A New Generation Core Rulebook and other official supplements. Characters will be young heroes, approximately 16 to 20 years old, with no two players choosing the same playbook. Players will select their playbooks before Session Zero to prevent overlap and help build a diverse team dynamic. We'll collaboratively develop characters that explore the themes of identity, growth, and heroism. Our character creation process will involve proposing playbook concepts, ensuring a diverse and complementary team composition!

What to expect

Preparing for the session

To join our adventure in San Fransapporo, players will need to have a Discord account ready for our game communications. A basic understanding of Powered by the Apocalypse mechanics is helpful but not required. Most importantly, players should bring their imagination, enthusiasm, and a willingness to engage in collaborative storytelling. We encourage players to be ready to explore complex character relationships and dive deep into the narrative.

What Non Playable Aaron brings to the table

As your Game Master, I'm committed to creating an immersive experience. Players can expect dynamic, voice-acted non-player characters that bring the world of San Fransapporo to life. I'll provide atmospheric background music to enhance the emotional and action-packed moments of our story. The frames for this campaign will help players visualize action, environments, and combatants. Each session will feature carefully crafted narrative-driven combat encounters that balance high-stakes action with meaningful character development. I'll work to create emotional character moments that allow each hero to explore their personal journey and team dynamics. The goal over our six-month campaign is to develop strong character dynamics, defeat villains, and tell a coming-of-age story to rival the Big Three!

Safety

How Non Playable Aaron creates a safe table

We prioritize creating a safe and comfortable gaming environment. We'll use Lines and Veils to establish boundaries for content that might be uncomfortable for players. We'll begin with a comprehensive Session Zero safety discussion to ensure everyone feels heard and respected. We take a break in the middle of the session to give everyone a chance to top off their bevvies and stretch their tired limbs. At the end of each session, we'll conduct an aftercare and debriefing (including Stars and Wishes!) to unwind after sessions.
