Kaiju Hunters
A Kaiju isn't just a monster, it's nature personified. Beyond a simple boss fight, they're deadly puzzles that require study and preparation to beat.

About the adventure
Set against the backdrop of a rapidly industrializing world, this adventure features 5 hunts that will last 2-3 sessions each, depending on the group. The campaign setting comes with a range of additional character options for the Yokai Realms. This includes Subclasses, Backgrounds and more. Kaiju: primordial manifestations that used to be a once in a century event, are popping up more than ever. As leylines are rerouted to feed industrial factories, and elemental forces are harnessed to create new technologies, some believe that the Mother of All seeks retribution. Debates about the cost of progress are all well and good, but someone has to stop these walking calamities from causing mayhem. The life of a Kaiju hunter is one of honour, power, and wealth. It also tends to be quite short with a lacking retirement plan. Players are welcome to drop in for one or two hunts, or play through the entire series. Each hunt is a self contained episode in a different location, but I've fleshed out the setting a bit, and plotted an underlying story to connect them together. The choices made by the party will have a significant impact on the fate of the Yokai Realms.

About me
Hi there, my name is David, and I wear many hats: nerd, nurse, father and more, but on this website the crown I wear is that of a Dungeon Master! I specialize in running 1:1 duets play-by-post games, as well as high level tier 3-4+ play. I’m based in the UK and am broadly available to talk 8 pm- 12 pm UK time, which is 3 pm - 7pm EST. This is the time window that I write most my daily posts. My pricing varies by the amount of skill and time that go into a game, where simpler games such as starter adventures cost $40 a week, and more complex games like my level 20+ games cost $60 a week.

Creating your character
Characters should be created on dnd beyond with the beyond 20 extension in use to roll in the virtual tabletop. I can either pull your sheet across to foundry or you can roll from dndbeyond into the tabletop. All official content is permitted. 2014 or 2024 are both fine. There are a bunch of player options available in Ryoko's guide that I can share, but they are not supported by DnD beyond so will have to be custom made. I am generally quite permissive of special requests as long as players don’t deliberately try to break the game. I am open to any discussions involving 3rd party content.

What David brings to the table
- Years of experience running DnD adventures. - Access to my extensive compendiums on DnD Beyond, featuring a vast collection of official books. For this adventure specifically I can share the relevant PDFs for the setting of the Yokai Realms. - A collection of accents and voices; don’t expect professional voice acting. - Generally a Rules as Written approach as the default but Rule of Cool may be used if the situation is appropriate.
Homebrew rules
There are several new mechanics that come with Kaiju that will be summarised in posts on discord, with a Q&A in session 0. The key points are that Kaiju do not have simple hitpoints like a normal boss and you cant just use brute force to defeat them. They have a "Chaos Threshold", and "Vulnerable Areas" that need to be exposed, targetted and disabled in specific ways. In this way they function both as a fight and as a bit of a puzzle. Seperate to this there are options for combo attacks, advanced weapon masteries, crafting and harvesting that we can discuss in session 0. Some groups may wish to use these, and the player options in Ryoko's guide, whilst others may wish to keep things more vanilla.

How David creates a safe table
I will be using the RPG Consent Checklist as a safety tool, which players should fill out beforehand and send to me on Discord. I also will talk to you in session 0 before we start about expectations, logistics and any safety concerns not covered by the checklist.
