About the adventure
Play as a gang of lovelorn sword lesbians (or bisexuals or pansexuals or general queers of any gender) whose Liege Lady has had enough of all this pining. She has arranged a grand tournament, a change for you to show off your skills and--hopefully--win the heart of the one you love. Using the Thirsty Sword Lesbians system, this two-part adventure will see you striving to triumph on the tournament field while also untangling your love life, plus whatever else you've got going on as an overall big queer mess. With a sword. It's a game about big feelings, passionate love, and of course, epic sword fights.

About me
I’ve been a storyteller across mediums, including as a playwright, actor, and novelist-- plus a drama critic and a literary scholar, breaking down stories and figuring out how and why they work the way they do. Over time, this came to feel like an accidentally perfect GMing education. I started playing TTRPGS with D&D, like most people, but was fortunate enough to fall into a local group where I had the opportunity to be introduced to a range of different systems that helped me realise how many amazing possibilities there are out there for collaborative storytelling through games.

Creating your character
We will do character creation collaboratively during the first session. If you'd like, you can refer to this list and start considering which playbooks interest you (but it's good to have a back-up plan, as we won't do repeats): https://poweredbylesbians.com/srd/playbooks/
What to expect
Preparing for the session
You will need an account on Discord and to join a Discord server I will provide the link for; however, if you are uncomfortable or unwilling to join a server, please let me know, and I am happy to look into alternate arrangements. You will need a microphone, headphones, and ideally a camera. You will need two six-sided dice or a dice-rolling app.
What Hailey brings to the table
I will provide the character sheets and all required rules information. The game is collaboratively built and highly improvisational on the GM side, so we will use Theatre of the Mind instead of maps. I will provide ambient music and some colourful NPCs! The rules of the game are highly flexible, so even though we will observe Rules As Written (RAW) in most instances, if you're used to D&D, you'll find it feels a lot more permissive and Rule of Cool-y even so. The rules don't tend to dictate what you CAN do, just what happens when you try. The narrative comes first: if it's narratively possible, then you can give it a go.
Homebrew rules
Depending on which tournament challenges interest you, I may homebrew or borrow mechanics to better reflect them, but in general we play Rules as Written.

How Hailey creates a safe table
I will send a link to a Lines and Veils document before the session, and we will discuss it during character creation. Players should also take a look at the available playbooks (linked above) and let me know if there are any playbooks they wish to exclude from the table based on their themes or moves. During the collaborative worldbuilding phase that begins the game, we will use the X card. My hope is that we can have an open, collaborative conversation such that people feel comfortable proposing alternatives to themes or topics they don't want to include, but if you don't, you can use the X card (in chat, physically, or verbally) to indicate that something should be excluded. In play, we will use the traffic light system to indicate comfort and consent. Red means stop, yellow means the current topic needs to be handled carefully or moved past quickly, and green is a confirmation that you are comfortable with the subject at hand. These can be put in chat as coloured circle emoji, or spoken out loud. We will go over all of these tools at the beginning of play, and also take time to establish any other boundaries. You'll note there are very few content warnings listed below; this is because we will world build collaboratively, and players will be free to exclude any topic they wish from the table. After the game, we will use Stars and Wishes as a way to reflect on the game and raise any concerns.
