About the adventure
You're part of a group of adventurers in a forest that's been forced into an eternal spring. This unnatural springtime causes the beings in this forest to experience explosive growth and become increasingly dangerous and feral. A nearby city has been invading the forest and expanding their territory in order to build farms to grow a flower that's the only known cure to a pandemic sweeping the city. The sins of the long dead founders of the city are haunting the current residents, causing them to get sick and eventually turn to stone. The city is getting crowded with these formerly living statues, monuments to their ancestors' hubris. The only cure to this horrible disease is being hoarded by the elite and given only to those willing to act in the interests of those with the most power, deepening the conflict between the people of the forest and those who live in the city. Freeing up the supply of healing flowers could disrupt the perverse incentives being used by the rulers of the city to pit people against each other and save innocent lives. Are you up to the task? This one shot will be oriented towards beginners. I'll teach you how to play! It will feature encounters that can be approached through social role play or combat, or a secret third thing you creatively figured out. It will be structured around a heist, but whether you use stealth, manipulation, or charge straight into battle will be up to you and your party! We'll be using the Witherwild campaign frame from the core book as the setting, which is based on Princess Mononoke and other similar media. This will also be a charity game, raising money for the Immigrant Rapid Response Fund which helps support immigrants in Minnesota in lots of ways. All money spent on this game will go directly to them.

About me
Hello, I'm Celeste! I'm queer, nonbinary, trans femme (they/them), and I've been playing in and running TTRPGs with my friends for about 6 years. I also have a lot of experience facilitating TTRPG therapy groups, and really enjoy creating spaces for people to explore different ways of being in the context of role playing whether that's in a therapy group or not. I also love stories, and co-creating them with a group of people is my favorite way to experience them. My main goal when I'm GMing is to facilitate the table making a fun and interesting story together, and I deeply appreciate players at the table who are as committed to that goal as I am. I've enjoyed all kinds of fantasy and sci-fi media since I was a kid and love to co-create stories in those types of settings with others. I'm particularly interested in running narrative focused games with more role play, but also enjoy some amount of tactical and cinematic combat. I love more collaborative games that involve players making up some information about the world and giving me opportunities to build on their contributions. This also lends itself to more player driven, sandbox type campaigns, which suit my style well. It's important to me to maintain an inclusive and respectful atmosphere at my tables. I won't allow for any racism, misogyny, homophobia, transphobia, ableism, etc at my tables. Also, I'll never use AI for my listings or in my games.

Creating your character
I will have a variety of pre-gens available if people want those, with the ability to fill in details like name and background to personalize them. You're also welcome to make your own character ahead of time if you prefer. Characters will be level 1 and the character creation options from the Witherwild campaign frame will apply.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
You'll need internet and accounts on Discord, Demiplane, and Roll20. You'll also need a working microphone and a relatively quiet place to be. Webcam and camera on during session is encouraged but not required.
What Celeste brings to the table
I'll bring a Demiplane account with a virtual copy of the core rule book as well as a subscription for sharing content with everyone else. I'll also bring well designed encounters that include exciting, cinematic combat and opportunities to resolve encounters nonviolently or without killing all the adversaries. Combats will also have stakes and narrative relevance. I'll use maps/tokens on Roll20 for some combats where positioning is more important and will stick to theater of the mind for others. Voices are a growth edge for me, and I'll do my best to differentiate NPCs enough so you can tell who's talking during role play scenes. I'll have a playlist of thematic music playing through the voice channel. I'll also teach you how to play! I'll go through the basics at the beginning of the game and teach people about more complex rules as they come up in play.
Homebrew rules
I'll be using the setting specific rules from the Witherwild campaign frame.
