About the adventure

Set twenty-five years after the American Civil War, in a world where America originally had 25 original colonies and 5 great lakes, magic still exists and so do the usual fantasy races such as orcs and dragonborn same as the rest—you are essentially... not a "good" person. Maybe you profiteered off the war, fought for the wrong side, sold slaves to southerners, pirated, lied, stole, cheated, killed—whether you were a cutthroat, a spy or just a conman, you've got a past, and it was safely buried along with however many bones it took to get to where you are now... Until, that is, a black letter with gold ink arrived on your doorstep. Essentially, it is two things: 1 - an invitation to a poker tournament on Port Street in Orlevanne during the week of Mardi Gras starting Fat Tuesday—February 18th, 1890, and 2 - Blatant blackmail. The buy-in is 1,800GP, and with 13 guests in total—also being blackmailed—the winner of the Hold Em tournament will stand to walk out with a total of 25,000gp and their secrets forever forgotten by the rest of the world. "You've each worked individually or even together to bury these troublesome aspects of your pasts, but if you have yet to arrive when the dealer begins shuffling the deck at 10pm sharp, then your secrets shall be revealed to every major newspaper in all of Georgiana before the first hands are dealt. Take not this invitation lightly, but please do not let it detour you from having fun this fine Mardi Gras in Georgiana! Yours, GGJ" In your lie of work, nothing like this is ever as simple as it seems. A week long card tournament?? Whoever has orchestrated this twisted game has brought together has much more in mind than drinks, smoking, cards and coin. Orlevanne is known to have much more history in so little time compared to the rest of the world and all sorts of hidden treasures hidden or lost in and around the bustling city. But such treasures come with their fair share of ghosts. What does this GGJ person have in mind for you and those around you? What is this mysterious stranger after? Confederate gold? Pirate troves? Needless to say, your hands are going to get dirty once again during Mardi Gras in Georgiana.

About me

The worlds I offer for you to explore together with others range from a parallel universe where the United States had FIVE Great lakes and for some reason Florida never existed (no offense to those who love that state) to a world where classic horror movie monsters such as werewolves and ghouls are as numerous and deadly as the number of crimson-armored Inquisitors hunting mages and nonhumans alike. Not a fan of post colonialism, the Victorian Era or post US Civil War fantasy? How about a more lighthearted world with higher fantasy volumes, where every thirty years, pilgrims who arrive at the peak of Mt Byron draw upon the magic of the Blood Star Comet to make their wishes come true? Or if you're a fan of a certain Galaxy far, far away, I can run a couple one-shot stories for you and your band of scruffy-looking nerf-herders. Whether you're absolutely new or a well-seasoned player, I intend to give you stories and adventures that not only help you escape our reality but even possibly allow you to change the history in the world around your character.

Character creation

Creating your character

Characters will be Lv10. For stats, we're using two things during session 0 and not sooner: Standard Point Array and a d20. As you know, SPA is 15, 14, 13, 12, 10 and 8, but having an 8 is stupid! Especially when villager NPCs have 10s across the board for their stats. That's where the d20 comes in! Roll the d20, and any roll below a 10 gets +10. If you rolled a nat 1,that's an 11. If you roll a 10, that 10 is now your stat. Roll a 14, you got a 14, and if you roll a nat 20? Huzzah! The dice gods favor you!

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Discord, a working webcam, a working mic, at least some basic knowledge of Texas Hold Em—particularly what hands beat one another. If your character knows magic and can cast certain spells without verbal components, magic might be used to cheat during the in-game tournament parts... at risk of your characters getting caught and facing potentially grave consequences, that is.

What MajorLitDnD brings to the table

With my words and your imagination, let's escape altogether from reality and into a world where New Orleans Louisiana and Savannah Georgia are inexplicably merged in history and lore. Set foot in an era of gaslit street lanterns, city-sized cemeteries and catacombs, characters of all sorts, monsters hiding in plain sight, and almost as if it were a manifestation of their combined histories into one lurking entity, try to shake off that ever growing feeling of something following behind you in the dark of the night.
