About the adventure

Why, dear reader, of all the continents of the 19th century would you set foot in Solaña?? The undead are said to be so numerous in the southern mists that entire caravans have been known to get overturned with few survivors making it out to tell the tale. Vampire lords somehow flourish without mortal visitors to their cave cities in Glacipetra while a plague has spread through nearly half of Valeport. Nonhumans and mages alike are being blamed for such events, and their panic only gives more way to the Vigil Inquisition who hunt down even the elves as if it's their fault for humans rarely being able to wield magic in the last few centuries! You would think the red armored brutes would rally together to put a stop to the overgrown problem of werewolves flooding Silvamore Forest, but they're apparently too busy trying to occupy every human-governed country in Solaña. If you insist on braving the continent where monsters flourish as nonhumans are tragically hunted far more often, then you're going to need to know a few rules. Take for instance, silver and gold—in Solaña, their values are swapped mainly in part by the demand for silver both in use of weaponry against just about every monster in existence but also due to the wealthy flaunting their wealth through using pure silver as fashion in jewelry, cutlery and such as that. Speaking of the rich, avoid any offers that sound too good to be true, especially when drinks are abundant in the mix; people go missing in places where mad scientists are funded to do just about anything they want whether it's heinous experiments on the cookes in the asylum, mangling old corpses from the catacombs of Amberglowe, trying to open portals to other worlds, or just making machinery that nobody ever asked for in the first place just because they can. Never go out alone at night, doesn't matter if you got a slivered blade or a powerful spell in your repertoire. Oh, and if you think the cities and countrysides are perilous, linger a little too long around the farm folk of Praedia as an outsider. There's a reason even the Vigil stay out of that country, and I'm not just talking about how it's all governed by covens and covens of witches. Now, where to, stranger...?

About me

The worlds I offer for you to explore together with others range from a parallel universe where the United States had FIVE Great lakes and for some reason Florida never existed (no offense to those who love that state) to a world where classic horror movie monsters such as werewolves and ghouls are as numerous and deadly as the number of crimson-armored Inquisitors hunting mages and nonhumans alike. Not a fan of post colonialism, the Victorian Era or post US Civil War fantasy? How about a more lighthearted world with higher fantasy volumes, where every thirty years, pilgrims who arrive at the peak of Mt Byron draw upon the magic of the Blood Star Comet to make their wishes come true? Or if you're a fan of a certain Galaxy far, far away, I can run a couple one-shot stories for you and your band of scruffy-looking nerf-herders. Whether you're absolutely new or a well-seasoned player, I intend to give you stories and adventures that not only help you escape our reality but even possibly allow you to change the history in the world around your character.

Character creation

Creating your character

For stats, hear me out: Standard Point Array is 15, 14, 13, 12, 10 and 8 in any order your character needs—HOWEVER, as even the mere Villager NPC has stats of 10 across the board, why would a DM ever make the players suffer a lower stat? So, forget that 8. On Session 0, the first d20 you roll in the server is going to take place of that useless 8, and if your roll is below a 10? We add 10 to the total. So, if you roll an 8, that's now an 18. If you roll a 1, that's 11. A Nat 20?? The dice gods be praised! 😄 Starting level is Lv3. Your character typically should have some experience and fair knowledge at least about the country the party starts in but isn't a major figure across the map... Yet. Leveling up is by milestone and can take time. Side quests come in abundance but ultimately can hinder your main story's progress. The more time you take, the more that main villains could be growing in power and/or numbers.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Just discord, a webcam, and a mic. Play on your phone, tablet or even your computer. Some races such as (but not limited to) dragonborn, centaurs, minotaurs, goblins and orcs are sadly extinct in this game's time period but did exist eons before when dragons ruled. If, however there is a race you've been dying to play that isn't in the current time period, there may be some time displacement properties involved that bring your character into the 1850s.

What MajorLitDnD brings to the table

The game's atmosphere is meant to have a Halloween vibe with classic movie monsters—it's meant to feel like horror, suspense but with the heroes having at least a little bite of their own. However, not everything is misery and cold sweat—there is plenty of room for comedy, wholesome moments caused by the party's efforts, and in-game debauchery after a long and difficult objective. I provide a whole server for your party, individual channels for keeping up with individual stats and inventory, even a memes channel for those who love making others laugh. For Character Sheets, I personally use the 5th Edition Character Sheet app, its symbol in the stores is a green d20 and it's free to download. However, you are only really required to have discord, a decent enough microphone, and your camera on while we play. Character art is encouraged but not a dire necessity. As for character sheets, I can screenshot everything the app gives you.

Homebrew rules

The values of silver and gold are swapped. Most if not all monsters have 0 resistance to silvered weapon and ammo damage. If you roll 5 above an enemy's AC for an attack roll, this is a critical where you roll damage, and that total is doubled. If you roll a nat 20 for an attack or have a feature such as "you crit on a 19", your attack does double your max damage, no roll required. That said, resistances and immunities still apply. Potions are a bonus action. Drinking only part of, say, a healing potion does part of the potion's effect(s). A homebrew of ghost is a playable races option at the start of the game.

Safety

How MajorLitDnD creates a safe table

Session Zero is free, it's where we collaborate on what kind of character each of you wish to play as, how each character fits into the world, how your characters know one another, etc. Dice rolls are via Avrae, a dice bot that you tell what to roll. That said, more trusted parties may be offered to roll dice at home and to use the honor system. If anything comes to be too much for you, your fun and comfort are my top priority. Let me know immediately, and we can adjust and accommodate.
