About the adventure
The world is not as it should be. The rich feed, literally, upon the poor, as blood-sucking vampires who barely bother to conceal their horrific, parasitic nature. The downtrodden peoples of the world struggle under the burdens of rent, payable through the sweat of their labor or the blood of their veins. Evil has triumphed. Many have given in to despair. But all is not lost. In Brinkwood, you take on the role of renegades, thieves, and rebels struggling for freedom and liberation in a castylpunk world controlled by vampires. Radicalized by tragedy, you have taken up arms and fled into the forests, where you were taken in by unlikely allies - the fae, forgotten creatures of myth - who offered a different path and the means to fight back against your oppressors. Masks, forged of old wood and older magic, are the final tool left to fight a war long ago lost. If you wear them, they will take their price, etching themselves upon your very soul. But they will also let you spill the blood of the rich and powerful vampires that now rule the land, and from that blood strengthen yourself and your movement. This is a Forged in the Dark game, meaning it will mechanically be very similar to Blades in the Dark and Apocalypse World. If you've played any Powered by the Apocalypse games, it will be very easy for you to learn Brinkwood! And if not, it's still very easy to learn!

About me
Hello! Pull up a chair, friend. This world is sorely in need of stories worth telling. A bit of lightness, a bit of courage, a bit of clever wordplay. There's nothing like a roleplaying game to draw out the best in us, and also to let us explore parts of ourselves that rarely see the light. That's why I play. I hope you'll join me! I’m always learning and growing, and I try to read as much as I can about D&D, game design, history, politics, and storytelling. I am a big fan of Dimension20, especially seasons where Aabria Iyengar or Brennan Lee Mulligan are the Dungeon Master.

Creating your character
Character creation happens during the first session! Should be very quick, as this is a Forged in the Dark game, based on Apocalypse World and Blades in the Dark. Every session, your character can choose to don the Mask of Judgment, Lies, Riot, Ruin, Terror, Torment, or Violence.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
You will need the following to join this game: ✅ Free Roll20 account ✅ Discord account ✅ Webcam ✅ Microphone ✅ Computer and web browser with internet access ✅ Headphones (strongly preferred, so our ambient music doesn't make feedback through your microphone) 🏳️🌈 A heart full of love for playing games and meeting new people
What Isaac brings to the table
No matter your experience level, I set a welcoming, inviting tone at my games. Your questions are good, your baggage from your last game is not too much, your experience matters to me! Pull up a chair, friend. I have a Plus Monthly Roll20 account, so all your digital needs will be taken care of. I’m a musician and an artist at heart, so I love incorporating graphic design elements, musical soundtracks and ambient noise, beautiful maps, and character art to enhance the experience of the game. I think the biggest thing I bring to the table is a flair for the dramatic. I was a musical theater kid in high school. Character voices. Storytelling. High drama. Heartrending conflict. This is the stuff I like. Very much. The Rule of Cool is a very important part of my style. If something will move the story forward in a cool way, I may not even have you roll for it. I’ve been learning that rolling too much can be a real barrier to more important things, like the narrative and the dramatic moment.

How Isaac creates a safe table
- I have a google form I will distribute at the beginning of the game so you can anonymously let me know what lines and veils you have before we begin. - We use a digital X-card system. If you are ever uncomfortable with the content, click the X-card, and we will pivot, no questions asked! - We will take a 10 minute break halfway through the session. - As needed, I will offer space to debrief after the session.
