About the adventure

The ruins of Rusthenge have stood silent vigil over the southern coastline of Chakikoth Isle for eons, dating back to the era of the runelords of ancient Thassilon. The town of Iron Harbor was built in Rusthenge's shadow, but now that New Thassilon has risen from the depths of the distant past, the old ruins are coming under unexpected scrutiny. Something sinister is afoot in Rusthenge, and it falls to a brand new band of adventurers to learn the truth of the ancient evil that stirs deep within its long-abandoned halls! This adventure also includes new items and character backgrounds, as well as a pair of new monsters tied to the region's notorious history. The adventure begins at 1st level and should reach 3rd level - it should take four to six sessions to complete, and is meant to be an alternative to the "Beginner Box" adventure.

About me

Greetings, adventurers. My name is George, and I have been immersing myself in TTRPGs since around 2001. My journey into the realm of Game Mastering took a serious turn with the release of Pathfinder. My background in theatre, history, and education has been instrumental in shaping my GM style, which emphasizes dramatic conflict, challenging decisions, and character development. I’ve had the pleasure of engaging with a diverse and international player population, both online and in person. This experience has enriched my understanding of the game and its global appeal. The games I run are primarily drawn from official Paizo publications for Pathfinder, supplemented by key resources from publishers like Kobold Press and Sly Flourish. In each campaign, I make it a point to engage with the player characters’ backgrounds. This begins with a session zero where we collaboratively create characters that align with the theme of the campaign. Each campaign I run is a unique world unto itself. I strive to create a distinctive and consistent atmosphere for each one, whether it’s the dark and grim tone of a horror campaign or the epic battles of a high fantasy adventure. Some campaigns may include unique mechanics tailored to their theme. My games, even when played remotely online, aim to emulate the feel of a traditional tabletop experience as much as possible. I prefer to keep technology from overwhelming the gameplay, allowing us to focus on the human elements of the game - the people around our virtual table. I am always available to answer questions through this site. If you have any doubts before signing up for a session, please contact me. I am always eager to hear from established parties who are looking for a new GM. Whether you have already been gaming together, or you are a group of friends, coworkers, or a family group, I would love to embark on an adventure with you. I am also open to requests from existing/ongoing groups for a specific campaign for your party. Whether you have a published module in mind or just an idea that you’d like to develop, I’m here to help you play the game you want to play! Remember, the essence of tabletop gaming is to have fun and create memorable stories together. Let’s roll the dice!

Character creation

Creating your character

Player characters should be created on Foundry VTT before our first session together. A player guide containing some background information about the adventure will be circulated in advance through Discord, to help you create appropriate characters. PCs will begin at 1st level - if you are new to Pathfinder you can also choose to use one of the iconic characters.

The current party

Brand new adventure, starting at 1st level.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

A good quality microphone (preferably a headset) is required to use Discord. I also strongly encourage players to use video during games. Games using video conferencing are usually more enjoyable for all parties, as video prevents misunderstandings and miscommunication. In addition you will need (free) accounts for Discord and Forge - the site hosting our Foundry VTT session. A short primer with campaign setting information will be provided in advance through Discord.

What George brings to the table

All handouts, maps, art, and character-building resources will be provided electronicaly either through Foundry or Discord. Foundry provides access to all player content for Pathfinder 2E for the purpose of character creation, equipment management, etc.

Safety

How George creates a safe table

This high fantasy heroic adventure contains the standard amount of violence typical of a D20 fantasy adventure. In addition, a fantasy "disease" is central to the story. During our first session together we will use a tool called "Lines & Veils" to establish our own limits on what we will and will not like to see including in our game. Any language or behaviour that makes other players feel safe or unwelcome at the table will not be tolerated. "That's what my character would do" is not an excuse
