About me

Hello Adventurers! I have been a Dungeon Master since the day I fell in love with the game at 13 years old. We started with pen paper and the D&D starter box set. Now I am proud to say I have had the pleasure of sharing my campaign setting dozens of times with friends and strangers over the last 25+ years. I truly believe in letting players run wild in my settings, each campaign enriches the worlds lore. I encourage players both new and experienced to apply, all are welcome. I host games for beginners and veterans alike and am currently running several campaigns that run at different paces.

Character creation

Creating your character

Using the Core 3.5 players handbook only. Creation during the Session 0. Starting level 3. Above average stats (5D6 omit the lowest 2 die). Rolling for all stats in group then assigning to abilities. Aiming for a balanced party.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

We will be using Discord (players will receive all links during session 0), ensure you have a camera and microphone that are ready to play at session start. Roll20 is sometimes used so be sure to be enrolled with them. We will make sure all players sheets are complete and have all resources (such as animal companions, spell lists, rules for item activating etc.) available to encourage speedy gameplay.

What Ryan Smith brings to the table

What You will get: Player resources for character creation including the core rulebooks, digital character sheets, Discord Server access, Full Battle-Maps, World Map, Customized Character tokens, Character Voices, Ambient music (background). What to expect: Roleplay, Tactical Combat, Interesting NPC's and a world that moves with you. Creatures: It's a full world that uses every monster in the Manual. Everything from cunning goblins and kobolds, creepy undead, whimsical faeries, stoic centaurs and terrifyingly beautiful dragons. Coaching!!! (New players are welcomed and you'll be playing with some experienced players who enjoy helping and teaching)

Homebrew rules

Safety

How Ryan Smith creates a safe table

Session 0 is a great place to start. There we will outline what the campaign setting includes (Monsters, Events, Theme) and have people share (in private if necessary) their individual preferences AFTER having read what is already established in the campaign notes including the Lines and Veils. We will have regular breaks along with good debriefing practices to ensure that future sessions allow everyone to feel safe as well as ensure the content is engaging. We will use X,N, and O cards and do a session review to make sure everything is moving forward in everyone's comfort zone.
