About the adventure
This game is intended for beginners, people who have never played Dungeons & Dragons before or very little of it. I will run an adventure that takes the players from levels 1 to 3 in the Forgotten Realms, one of the most popular official settings for D&D. You may recognise the Realms from games like Baldur's Gate 3 or films like Dungeons & Dragons: Honour Among Thieves. I will help each player make (and then level up) a character using the 2024 Player's Handbook rules - alongside extra character options provided in 2025's Heroes of Faerun book - to play through this adventure with. All that is needed to participate in this game is a discord account with access to a microphone and the ability to call. Oh, and a willingness to learn! The game's tone will not be especially dark, but the nature of the story will touch on real-world issues of corruption and abuses of power such as police brutality so play at your own discretion. This can be discussed during session zero.

About me
Howdy, I'm Egg! Firstly, yes that is actually my name. Secondly, let me tell you a bit about myself. I've been a GM for over 6 years now, ever since I was a teenager running my first D&D game for some mates. I'm also a writer, currently studying English Literature & Creative Writing at university. I have my own fantasy setting with developed lore, maps, and character options which I still add to regularly. My games are dramatic, thrilling, and character-driven. If you're looking for a game master to introduce you or a friend to roleplaying, look no further. I ran a beginner's roleplaying club in my sixth form during my teen years, and currently do introductory sessions for my university's RPG society. What I'm saying is, I've got plenty of experience helping people find their feet in the tabletop world. I hope to hear from you!

Creating your character
I will help the players to create characters according to the rules laid out in the Player's Handbook, asking them a few questions to determine a concept and then helping them to realise it. To ensure player enjoyment, I have modified the Ranger class, but I will explain this more if anybody is interested in playing a Ranger.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
Players will require a Discord account to join the voice calls where sessions will be held. They will also need the ability to read and interact with editable PDFs, as this is how the character sheets will be provided.
What Egg Eggleton brings to the table
I focus on providing an engaging and immersive player experience with voiced NPCs, roleplaying techniques intended to help shy roleplayers become comfortable with their characters, and a deep understanding of the rules which I will use to assist new players. Since this game is aimed at complete beginners, I will be primarily focusing on the broad strokes of the rules and as such will take a Rule of Cool approach to many of the finer details of D&D.
Homebrew rules
For narrative purposes, if a player character is reduced to 0 hit points and forced to make death saving throws, that character gains a scar. The player is encouraged to think of how the injuries that took them out of commission have left a scar on their character.

How Egg Eggleton creates a safe table
The first thing that I do to ensure player comfortability is offer session zeroes where the players can get to know each other a little bit and discuss potential boundaries as well as the tone of the game. I take a list of Lines & Veils, something I am happy to explain during session zero, to make sure I am careful with potentially triggering or upsetting topics. My games take 10-15 minute breaks halfway through so that players do not get overly tired and they can decompress from any intense feelings the game brings out. I also stay in the voice call for up to 10 minutes after sessions end in case players want to discuss anything with me, and encourage my players to let me know the second an uncomfortable topic is raised during a session so that we can find the best way to proceed without anyone's experience with the game suffering.
