About the adventure
Some fields surrounding your town have been burned and travelers report being attacked on the road by "metal people" that spit fire. The frequency of the incidents only seem to be increasing and sightings of these "metal people" are closer and closer to the town. What is even weirder, is that some of the town elders say that this things have appeared before, many decades ago. Someone has to find out where this things are coming from and put an end to their attacks! In this homebrew beginner-friendly adventure, players must investigate, explore and fight to stop the creatures that endanger their home town. In the process they will have to face not only the fire-wielding automatons, but also the dangers and mysteries of the Shadowdark and whatever lurks in its long forgotten halls. I have run this adventure in the past and designed it to introduce new people to the hobby and the system, while also offering experienced players new and interesting challenges, with great success! So if you wanna try Shadowdark for the first time or simply go dungeon delving, come join me!

Creating your character
We will create 1st level characters during the first session, going over the process in detail for those that don't have previous experience with Shadowdark. Character creation is fairly simple and quick, so it will not take too much time. We will use the classes found on the Player Quickstart, available for free.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
Players should have a working microphone, a stable internet connection, and headphones. Webcam its not necessary. Playing on a computer is encouraged, but not necessary (mainly for interacting with the VTT). Players will need a Discord account. Its recommended to always have at hand a copy of the Shadowdark Player Quickstart, available digitally for free on the Arcane Library website.
What Maxi brings to the table
I can share the Player Quickstart Guide with everyone, as well as character sheets and other resources to make the experience smoother, and have the core rules and other supplements for rules referencing and additional content (classes, spells, etc). I will be streaming music and ambience through Discord, and using Owlbear Rodeo as VTT (no account required for the players).
Homebrew rules
-First level characters will start with maximum hit points. -Random encounters will use a "crawling clock" instead of the fully random determination.

How Maxi creates a safe table
Before the start of the first session we will talk about the general themes and content of the adventure to make sure everyone is on board. I will be open to any change/adjustment necessary to make everyone comfortable before starting. At any moment during play, a player can message me personally through Discord typing an "X" if they are uncomfortable with any content i'm describing or with an "O" if they feel the content is heading towards something that will make them uncomfortable. I will adjust accordingly, pausing briefly to clarify if necessary, and we will continue playing. At any point during the game, players can take a break if they feel they need it, notifying me through discord when they do, so i know they are AFK. After the session i will ask everyone for any feedback/thoughts about the game, what they liked or didn't like, and any other feelings they have about it and wish to share.
