About the adventure

This campaign is a reimagining of the isolation horror module Icewind Dale, Rime of the Frost Maiden. In this adventure path, we will explore the bone rattling mysteries that surround the icy north holding Ten Towns hostage in the unforgiving tundra of Icewind Dale. The biggest of these mysteries is that of the violent storm threatening to bury Ten Towns in winter’s frost forever. This campaign is intended for problem solving and exploration loving players to enjoy, As a GM I play pretty equal social and Combat encounters. I love meaningful and interesting combat encounters. The goal is 40% combat, 40% social and 20% puzzle solving. The setting of Val’ulf'hbiem is a personally crafted setting that is an alternative history concept where the Nordic god Fenrir devoured the world and gave it life anew. The setting does have much more of a Nordic theme focus and its own general lore that a primer on will be provided that will also cover character creation. Although the greater world is not the forgotten realms most if not all of the content in the module will be accurate with additional story telling flair.

About me

I am a fun loving artist with a unique sense of humor. I view Game mastering as a form of art and am very passionate about my table's fun while telling the best possible stories. I've been a GM since 2017 and my homebrew campaign setting has had over 60 different players partake in the fun. I've also been running games at a public game store for 3 years now.

Character creation

Creating your character

This is a horror/mystery themed Adventure path, so character creation should follow thoughts along this fact however, I will have two campaign primers for an abundance of character creation detail. I do intend to use player secrets as they are one my personal favorite parts of the Icewind Dale setting meatal. I won't just force this on players however, we will do four rolls per player, and they will keep the secret they want to play most. I would advise determining this before fully forming your character concept. I do point buy stats, fixed health, DnDbeyond for sheet management, I allow a starting magic item, Talespire for maps, Discord meet server play space. I am ok with most homebrew after review of its source materials. I also will just accept any player options from the 2024 rules in general but particularly from the Forgotten Realms: Heroes of Faerûn, Ravenloft material and Crooked Moon 3rd party expansion. Within the primers for the campaign it will cover what the most common races are in this retelling of the Icewind Dale story and what class options that I think have the coolest ideals for the setting. if an option doesn't exist in 2024 rules, I am ok with porting some rules from 2014 rule sets.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Players will need a; Discord account, I have a lovely public server that I host games on. DnDBeyond, I have a significant amount of content available here. Talespire guest edition, this is free on the steam store and only usable on PC. If you can't I will stream it for you, so this one isn't the biggest of deals.

What Acrylic Wolf brings to the table

I love to set a mood with music and make bizarre noises pretending to be some alien mythologic creator. I also love to make 3D terrains and custom artwork, though handmade art isn't a guarantee. I am a GM that considers the fact that the world is living and breathing, your choices in the world have consequences and they will impact the world within reason of the choices made. I also love story and seeing how players change the stakes of the story. You are not just bearing witness to it; you are a driving factor of what happens and how it ends.

Homebrew rules

My setting allows the use of spell points however this optional.

Safety

How Acrylic Wolf creates a safe table

I have a Document with several details and several safety tools i try to incorporate and content warnings, because I myself am not bothered by much, so I have to go the extra mile to know where everyone else's lines are. I can't predict what players will do or how every NPC will react, but what I can do is create a cultured environment that is thoughtful, alerted, informed and forgiving.
