About the adventure

🧚 Enjoy a feast with new friends, and hear a new story or two! šŸ§šā€ā™‚ļø Race across the tavern trying to beat the other teams' times 🧚 Explore a fey domain the way fairies see it! šŸ§šā€ā™€ļø Confront the fearsome beasts! 🧚 Impress a fiery archfey...and take home the prize! In this tavern, the only currency is a story. A name or a tale can purchase a meal. And a clever adventurer will receive much more than that. The Ember King, the fey Storyteller, rules over the Tavern. His domain is this two-story building with a back door that opens to the Feywild. For a story or a song he will teach you about the fey realm, and reward you with loot and a new adventure...if you make it back alive.

About me

The first time I walked into a game store in 1992 and learned to play D&D, I was immediately hooked. Not on the game--that came later--but on the energy of the place, on the shared community, and on those beautiful, clicky-clacky dice! TTRPGs quickly became my favorite form of entertainment, and within a couple of years I was running games of my own. I continued running them through college, marriage, and the start of my family, but after my second child was born we moved away and I hung up my GM hat until 2020. I later discovered 5th edition online, and it re-ignited my passion for the hobby. This version of D&D is closer to the way I like to play than any other, so I started DMing again in 2021. I jumped on board with SPG in 2023, and I love having this chance to connect with new players, start new games, and tell new stories together!

Character creation

Creating your character

Krystal will provide pre-made character sheets for you to choose from after you sign up or at the start of the game.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Needed web accounts (all free): - Discord - D&D Beyond Needed equipment: - Webcam and mic (video is preferred but not required) - Stable internet - A quiet setting with minimal background noise It is recommended that you either have a large monitor or use two screens, such as a computer and a phone or tablet. You'll need to have your character sheet, the map and the discord screen all up at once, and that can be fiddly on a smaller monitor or laptop screen. Needed characteristics: - Experience: None! Teaching beginners is one of my favorite parts of being a DM. I will work with you to make sure you understand what's going on. - Willingness to cooperate with other players; D&D is a team game.

What Krystal brings to the table

- Beautiful, immersive maps and music - Space for social roleplay - Patience with beginners and a safe space for neurodivergence - Creative, out of the box ideas, and the ability to flexibly respond to player choices - I primarily run games for people who like the social/roleplay aspect of D&D. You will not be expected to use a "character voice" or speak in first person. My games are a safe place for players to explore getting into character at the rate they feel comfortable.

Safety

How Krystal creates a safe table

Below you'll find instructions for accessing my Discord server. This is where the voice portion of the game will be held. As soon as you join it, I will contact you to set up a quick call so I can learn more about you and what you expect from the game. This should take no more than 15-20 minutes, and we'll choose your character together. I know how hard it can be to step into a new online space with a group of strangers. This introductory call is one of the ways I strive to make sure everyone is comfortable and safe at my table. Make sure you connect with me on Discord ASAP. The earlier we chat, the better chance you'll have to the get the character you want! To make sure we get in touch, be sure to follow the instructions under How to Prepare, below.
