About the adventure
This game is intended for players who are familiar enough with the rules to be able to play around with them. There will be a heavy focus on role play and shenanigans, but decent amounts of combat as well. Most combat will be theater of the mind, but miniatures on a webcam may be used later. You will be playing as a CR 1 monster, and using a monster stat sheet. You will be able to personalize this character as well. There will also be a focus on growth over time. Eventually this will lead to you having small armies, evil lairs, and a plan for world domination! Because of the way this works, drop-ins are totally accepted, as is changing out characters mid campaign. The plot will be improvised as we go. First session is free, so feel free to just try out a session.

About me
I have been GMing D&D 5e for over a decade, with experience in Pathfinder and other systems both official and home brew as well. I have published some of my homebrew content as well on DMs guild. My style tends to be more open and improvisational, but that can be up to the players as well. I love testing out new ideas and voices. i try to strike a balance between expressing the story i want to tell, and creating the story with the players. i tend to be relaxed with new players, but i will be a rules lawyer for experienced players.

Creating your character
Please Choose a Monster stat sheet from D&D 5e that is CR 1 or lower. Alternatively, you can have two monsters that add to CR 1 or lower. You cannot have more than two for action economy reasons. Swarms are fine. In addition to what the stat sheet includes, you may also outfit your character with 15gs worth of starting equipment, and one common magical item. Please use some common sense. i doubt a swarm of bees could wield a broadsword. Feel free to write a bit about your character ahead of time, and also to make up something about the world when you do! I am very good at thinking on my feet, but i would also appreciate a heads up before the session as well to prep and confirm your backstory jives well with others.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
You should have a discord account, and a microphone. A webcam is an optional bonus. If a combat map is needed, i will stream video of miniatures on a grid. I will give you an invite to the discord server once you join.
What Red Cobalt brings to the table
I will sing to you poorly, riddle you annoyingly, and speak to you in all manner of terrible accents. I like combat, but will reward creativity and forethought, as well as solving my riddles, and engaging with my NPCs. I don't fudge roles, but i will sometimes give retroactive advantage if you can make a good argument.
Homebrew rules
There are many. Most importantly, you will not have a traditional character sheet. You will use a monster stat block, and as you progress, i will give you opportunities to customize your monster. Part of this process will be adding NPC monsters to your legion, or becoming a high CR version of the same monster. For example, you may start as a cultist, then eventually become a vampire thrall, and perhaps even a Vampire later. You will also be able to have Lairs and such later in the game. At game start, all you need to prepare is to have a Monster Stat sheet and a backstory ready.

Safety
How Red Cobalt creates a safe table
After every session i like to perform a variant of Stars and Wishes. I like to hear three things that the player liked, and three things they think could be improved. i like to have a 5 minute break per hour, or 15 every two hours, depending on the situation. In addition, before the sessions i like to get to know the players, and specifically, i ask them for at least one thing they would really like out of the session, and one thing they would like really to avoid.
