About me

Hello and welcome to the Tavern! I am an avid TTRPG enjoyer and have been for many years now. I started as a player enjoying D&D 5th Edition but have since moved to being a Game Master and I have not looked back since! While I started with D&D 5th Edition, I have since added many other games to my roster. Some notable examples are Avatar Legends, a TTRPG based on Avatar the Last Airbender, Pathfinder, and Call of Cthulhu, a game focused on the Lovecraftian mythos. I believe variety is the spice of life and I love to try out different systems. If a player wants me to run a system I haven't used before, I am always ready to learn! When running my games, I ensure safety and respect for all players and set clear rules and boundaries. I love players having fun within the game and I feel that the fun should not come at the expense of others. I do not role-play sexual or intimate scenes, so the most that will occur is a fade to black with no details. I have run many games over my years as a Game Master, gaining the experience required to be a great storyteller while keeping creative freedom and flexibility for the shared story-telling aspects of TTRPGs. When playing one of my games, you can expect great story structure and the freedom to do what you want, knowing that it will lead to great improvisational story elements. The storytelling method I use that makes this possible is the diamond structure. Every game has a start and end point, but everything in between can go wherever the players take it I look forward to seeing you in my games!

What TheTavernTeller brings to the table

When joining this game, players can expect awesome roleplay, great cinematic descriptions and music, and the flexibility of a GM who knows the rules but likes to allow for player creativity to shine! I also bring an assortment of modules on Foundry that provide a unique experience to approaching D&D, making it very easier for newcomers. Finally, I bring my experience as a teacher, helping educate new players on how to play D&D in a very approachable and friendly way.

Safety

How TheTavernTeller creates a safe table

Players will use a deck of player safety to anonymously inform me of any topics they wish to avoid before the session. This process normally only takes around 3 minutes to complete and will be done digitally. I also use X, N, and O cards to let player inform me if a topic is approaching or past their line of safety. These cards will be privately messaged through discord. Finally, at the end of every session I run, I like to ask players about their stars and wishes. I want to know what went well, what could have gone better, etc.
