About the adventure
Welcome to One-Shot Wednesdays! Every week I run a brand new one-shot for D&D 5e! If you just want to play around in a quick session or want a brief intro to the system, come hang out! This week's One-Shot is: The Dunedien Dungeon A small party of adventurers uncovered a ruin in the desert; an ancient well that acts as a gateway to beneath the desert. World swiftly spread of the vast riches they found there. Unfortunately, they have not returned from their latest expedition below the sands. The party have been hired to descend into the well and explore the dungeon that lies below Dunedien, and uncover the mystery that lies in wait. Get ready to investigate the gruesome fate of the adventurers that have delved beneath the sands ahead of you. Mysteries and puzzles await you. This adventure is for players of all experience levels and, while focused on unravelling the mysteries of this desert dungeon, there will still be combat to test your tactical mettle. I like to run a relaxed table where people can feel free to joke around and do daft things in the middle of the session. We're all here for a good time and to enjoy a bit of collaborative storytelling.

About me
Glasgow born game developer, I've been playing TTRPGs for almost the entirety of my adult life. I'm a big fan of Terry Pratchett, Brandon Sanderson, and Ben Aaronovitch. I've always been a big comedy fan and I try to play a lot of different games to get a better understanding of design, philosophy, and systems. I co-run a streaming channel with my brother called TheBrothersHoney, where we do D&D homebrew, discuss TTRPGs, and occasionally broadcast campaigns. I also have a BA(Hons) in Game Design and Production and have been working on small video game development projects since 2021. Any players wanting to join a session will need to fill out this Lines and Veils form: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfQ7TRyWsndvE6-dL8xDvTCEFNJy5tlgAmet3N-HOuDNXfLRg/viewform?usp=header Prospective players will also need to join this Discord server: https://discord.gg/VYQAvgYf3x

Creating your character
As this is a one-shot, players will need to come with characters pre-made of 7th level. If you need help creating a character or want to ask any questions, please DM me directly and I'll happily do a free character creation/consultation. All officially published content is permitted, and any homebrew or third-party content will need to be run past me. All characters will be assumed to be using the 2014 ruleset unless otherwise specified. All spells will be using the 2014 versions. However, each character will be allowed an origin feat of their choosing from the 2024 PHB, independent of their background. You don't need to be a farmer to get Tough.

What Jonathan brings to the table
I like to do lots of different character voices and plan to experiment with ambient music. I always run by the rule of cool as I love making sure players have a good time and get the opportunity to do crazy stuff. I like to run combat with interesting gimmicks, although there's nothing wrong with going back to standard tactical combat. No matter what, I like to challenge my players in combat. Don't expect to come out unscathed.
Homebrew rules
Crits on skill checks Druids get a number of wild shape charges equal to their wisdom modifier Drinking a potion is a bonus action BG3 style inspiration to be granted for cool or fun RP to a maximum of 4 Players can choose whether to use 2014 or 2024 rules for their classes but all spells will be using their 2014 counterparts. However, all classes that have it in the 2024 rules will be allowed and encouraged to use the Weapon Mastery rules available to them. Each player character will be allowed to take a 2024 Origin Feat independent of their background. That is to say, it doesn't matter which background the player picks, they can choose any feat from the Origin Feat list.

How Jonathan creates a safe table
I have included a link to my Lines and Veils document in my GM profile, in this listing and will be drawing their attention to it before the session. Included in this document is an explicit reminder that the players each have the right to call a halt to the session and directly communicate with me about any issues that have arisen. I will be implementing auditory X,N, & O cards using Discord's built-in soundboard. Finally, I will do a general recap and overview of how everyone is doing at the end of each session, zeroing in on any issues that may have arisen during the session
