About the adventure

The city of Duskwall is a hotbed of intrigue, skullduggery, and supernatural mysteries. It's asking for a talented gang of criminals to step in and make their mark on the city. It's asking for you. Stalk the shadows and trade in secrets, push your drugs on the corner lanes, fight for control against brutal gangsters. In Blades of the Dark, you control the narrative and build your own criminal empire. Using the Forged in the Dark rule system, Blades is all about dropping the player characters into action-packed heists and figuring out what happens via play. Factions are constantly scheming against each other, new disoveries are always being made, and the narrative is focused squarely around the ambitions of the larger-than-life PCs. It is my very favorite rule system and I'm delighted to share it with SPG.

About me

"He’s like Mrs. Dalloway, but with dice." - my favorite review ever Well met, fellow human! Let's sit down and come up with a story, something that we'll be remembering fondly for years afterwards. Let's make up stupid voices and get all emotional over a fake donkey, let's turn up the battle music and feel tension as the enemy moves across the field. Let's create some badass moments. As you may have gathered, I'm a big fan of the collaborative nature of tabletop roleplaying. I believe the game runs best when I don't know what's going to happen next, you don't know what's going to happen next, and we're all just frantic with excitement about the next roll of the dice. We play to find out what happens.

Character creation

Creating your character

Character creation will happen during the first session, as will creation of the crew and what type of scoundrels we intend to be in Duskwall. Material from the new Deep Cuts book will be discussed as potential alternatives for play.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Please at least read up on the first few chapters of the rulebook, which I will help provide. Have a working idea of crime story tropes, conventions, and more! Be prepared for Duskwall's grittiness, its gothic flair, and to tell a story of resistance and hope in dark times.

What Brayden brings to the table

I'm bringing the Foundry virtual tabletop, a curated soundtrack for the session, hundreds of hours of RPG experience and a dedicated love for supporting player expression. At my tables, you are always the main character and we're here to support that.

Safety

How Brayden creates a safe table

During our Session 0, we'll be creating our Lines & Veils document as well as establishing the use of our digital X cards. I also send out forms regularly throughout the campaign's run to gauge player comfort and safety at the table.
