About the adventure

Welcome to the Hellfire Club! đŸ€˜ The year is 1986, and you’ve just been handed a legendary "lost" campaign by none other than Eddie Munson. This isn't just any game of Dungeons & Dragons; it's a high-octane, metal-infused journey through the world of "Greyhawkins." Whether you’re a total beginner or a seasoned veteran of the Upside Down, the Hellfire Club is looking for brave souls to face the Shadow Dungeon, solve the mystery of the blighted crops, and ultimately face the "Hellfire Dome." The setting is a love letter to 80s nostalgia. Expect a world where the monsters are terrifying, the stakes are personal, and the vibe is pure rock-and-roll. We’ll be using the 2024 Core Rules, making this a perfect jumping-off point for anyone curious about the newest version of D&D. You can choose to play as the iconic heroes from the show—like Lady Applejack or Will the Wise—or create your own champion to stand alongside them. As your DM, I prioritize "Rule of Cool" and cinematic storytelling. My games are a mix of intense tactical combat and lighthearted roleplay. I love using music to set the mood—expect plenty of synth-wave and classic metal to underscore your greatest triumphs (and narrow escapes). I provide a safe, inclusive environment where the goal is always the same: to tell a story so epic it belongs on a Saturday morning cartoon. Are you ready to roll for initiative? This adventure is perfect for fans of Stranger Things, lovers of old-school dungeon crawls, and players who want a DM who leans into the drama. Grab your lucky dice, put on your favorite band tee, and let’s show the world that we’re more than just misfits.

About me

I’m a husband, father, and lifelong gamer who has been navigating dungeons since the days of AD&D 2e. For the last 10 years, I’ve been a dedicated "Forever DM," running 5e regularly since before the pandemic. I especially love welcoming new players to the table. My mission is to make your entry into the hobby as smooth as possible by utilizing D&D Beyond to handle the heavy lifting of character creation and mechanics, leaving us more time for the story.

Character creation

Creating your character

Character Selection & Setup For this adventure, we will be using the exclusive pre-generated characters included in the Welcome to the Hellfire Club set. These heroes are more than just stats on a page; they are the legendary personas created by the Hawkins crew themselves! How it works: The Roster: You’ll have your choice of the classic Hellfire lineup, including Lady Applejack (the high-damage Rogue), Nog the Dwarf (the stalwart Cleric), and Will the Wise (the powerful Wizard), among others. When: Character selection will happen before the first session via our Discord or the StartPlaying message portal. This ensures we can jump straight into the action once we sit down at the virtual table! Level & Stats: All characters start at Level 1 and are built using the 2024 Core Rules standard array. These sheets are optimized for the adventure, so you don't need to worry about complex math—just bring your roleplaying A-game. Customization: While the mechanics are set, the "soul" of the character is yours. You’ll decide their personality, their quirks, and how they react when the metal starts playing and the monsters start biting. What you need: You don’t need to own any specific books! I will provide the digital character sheets via D&D Beyond or as PDFs. If you are new to the 2024 rules, don't sweat it—I’ll walk you through your abilities as we play.

What D. Robert (EMTMAN) brings to the table

What I Bring to the Table When you join my table, you aren’t just getting a narrator; you’re getting a fully immersive 1980s cinematic experience. I provide everything you need to feel like you’ve stepped into a basement in Hawkins, ready to battle the forces of darkness. Atmosphere & Sound: I utilize high-quality ambient soundscapes and a curated "Hellfire" playlist featuring 80s synth-wave and classic heavy metal to punctuate our most epic moments. The "Eddie" Style: I lean heavily into character voices and expressive storytelling. Expect NPCs that feel like real people (or real monsters) and descriptions that bring the "Greyhawkins" setting to life. Gameplay Balance: I strike a balance between intense, tactical combat and narrative freedom. While I use the 2024 Core Rules, I am a firm believer in the Rule of Cool—if you describe something awesome, I’ll work with you to make it happen! Digital Tools: I provide all digital maps, high-resolution tokens, and access to the necessary character sheets so you can focus entirely on the game. Our Table Rules & Safety To ensure everyone has an epic time, I maintain a table culture built on mutual respect. By joining this game, you agree to the following standards: The Golden Rule: Treat your fellow players with the same respect and kindness you’d want for yourself. Wheaton’s Law: Simply put—Don't be a jerk. Rating: This is a PG/PG-13 game. The horror is spooky and the action is intense, but we keep the content within the spirit of the Stranger Things show. Player Autonomy: Every player is the hero of their own story. Don’t tell others what to do or how to play their character. Safety First: We use safety tools to ensure everyone stays comfortable. Stop if someone asks you to stop. No questions asked, no explanations needed.
