About the adventure
Something is killing people in Palebank Village, and if the characters don’t stop it, they might be next. “Frozen Sick” is an adventure that takes characters from 1st to 3rd level and introduces them to the continent’s Biting North region—the bleak arctic realms of the Greying Wildlands and Eiselcross. They’ll learn Auril has brought a terrible curse upon the Eiselcross as competing Empires from across Exandria have begun a series of expeditions to unearth the artifacts of Aeor, the ancient flying city of Mages who dared to make war with the Gods themselves! High magic, lots of treasure and any published D&D Beyond material (including Partnered Content) is allowed. Come join us and explore the deeper magics of the Eiselcross in a mashup of Rime of the Frostmaiden, The Explorers Guide to Wildemount and Taldorei Reborn! This game is welcome to everyone, Beginners and Veterans, and people of all backgrounds, genders and orientations. If you have any issues with inclusivity, this may not be the game for you! Characters must be built in D&D Beyond (I'll send you the campaign link) and linked with Beyond20 (I’ll help you onboard). You will have access to the full library of WoTC and Partnered published materials with classes, races and subclasses appropriate to the setting available. Homebrew permitted upon review. This is a game looking to build a steady group of players who are interested in exploring the world of Exandria and becoming part of a grand adventure laid out in several chapters!

About me
I'm a DM with nearly 30 years of experience and have been a Professional running multiple sessions weekly since 2021. I've been playing since 2nd Edition and I strongly believe that the player's write the story with their choices and decisions, I'm just the editor that makes sure every player is getting the role they want in the story. While I sometimes may be using published materials, I'll often tailor the module to the players. This means that your choices in character creation will help shape the story, and veterans who may have played the adventure before might get a surprise or two! I believe in RAW and RAI, meaning your spells and abilities will do what they say they do, but I also support and encourage creative applications as well. I won't punish you for your build or your creativity, instead I'll find ways to make you feel challenged and awesome! I'm a fan of rich, fulfilling narratives, memorable characters with unique personalities and stories that will change based on your decisions, but I'm also a seasoned vet who's fought a battle or two and loves dynamic tactical combat. Depending on who is in the group and what your preference is, we can focus on either (or both!). We can play a session without a single roll of a die, or we can wage glorious battle through a gauntlet of cunning foes. The game you want is the game I'll bring to you!

Creating your character
We will build characters in session 0. Level 1. Taldorei Reborn and The Explorer's Guide to Wildemount should be your main references, but all D&D Beyond Published content can be available.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
You will need Discord, a microphone, a The Forge account for the Foundry VTT, the Beyond 20 Browser Plug In and a D&D Beyond Account for character sheets and resources. Ideally a Google account too for Docs and Sheets. What Northern Dungeons brings to the table
Full colour maps on Foundry VTT with dynamic lighting and other fun effects! Ambient music for Combat, Exploring or Socializing! Character voices, a rich cast of NPCs and opportunities to develop relationships that are full and rewarding! Dynamic and Challenging Combat that can surprise the Meta and presents stakes! Narratives tailored to the Player Characters, making the stories personal and meaningful!
Homebrew rules
I defer to ability checks over Item HP, favouring Strength for breaking, jumping and swimming, I encourage using the 2014 combat option rules in the DMG, with some space utilizing the 2024 Unarmed Strike Rules and thew saving throw mechanics. I utilize Exhaustion, and add it to the statuses Lesser Restoration can heal, and allow Second Wind, Rage, Wholeness of Body and other Physical Based abilities as a means of overcoming it. I use the Free Press mental health conditions as well, along with 2014 madness rules (sometimes with durations homebrewed) I like to use Popcorn initiative for exploration and skill challenges when there is an urgency or danger that opens up space for cinematic descriptions and allows equal opportunities for the spotlight.
