About the adventure

ā€œNo live organism can continue for long to exist sanely under conditions of absolute reality; even larks and katydids are supposed, by some, to dream.ā€ —Shirley Jackson, The Haunting of Hill House Welcome to the Macallister Building, your new home in New York City! What a steal compared to other places in the City, aren't you lucky? Get to know eclectic neighbors, share creative work, and come dusk explore the winding halls of the Night Floors... This classic modern horror investigation by Dennis Detwiller is set in New York in the summer of 1995. As the artistic tenants of the Macallister, you'll discover oddities, out-of-time neighbors, and inexplicable horrors in the winding halls and beyond. What is Delta Green? Delta Green is an RPG steeped in paranoid governmental spooks inspired by the likes of Twin Peaks, The X-Files, and HP Lovecraft. Arc Dreams Publishing prints some of the most well-loved modern horror investigations for TTRPGs. The Night Floors is the start of a reality-shattering Delta Green investigative campaign called Impossible Landscapes. Join as a group for $5 off every session!

About me

I go by the Gentle GM. Even in the midst of death-defying adventure or bone-chilling horror, I aim to be a warm and welcoming game master. I've run games for children players, seniors, and all ages in between. I try to suffuse hope, respect, and warmth into every session I run. I offer: šŸ³ļøā€šŸŒˆ A welcoming, inclusive play style šŸ”„ Player-focused flair and action 🧭 Open-ended storytelling šŸŽ Action, horror, awe, and comedy in-game āš–ļø Settings with themes of justice and transformation šŸ“† Over a decade of game mastering experience šŸ–‹ļø Know-how with dozens of systems At thirteen, two friends and I huddled around the Dungeons & Dragons 3e starter set, laughing at a natural 20 to breakdown a door with the fighter's head. In high school, I found the Call of Cthulhu rulebook and made investigators with friends, still clueless how to actually play. In 2014 with the launch of D&D 5e and Call of Cthulhu 7e, I committed to running these games and an old love sparked brilliantly to life! I've since taught dozens their first TTRPG! I'm also an inveterate dabbler in TTRPGs. If you're curious if I run a particular game, just ask! Images are used with permission from James' RPG Art, https://jamesrpgart.com.

Character creation

Creating your character

These Delta Green investigators will be the everyday residents of the Macallister as they encounter the strangeness beyond. Whether they continue on to become Delta Green agents will be up to the players and the outcome of The Night Floors.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

What Caleb | The Gentle GM brings to the table

I have years of experience running cosmic horror games, primarily with Call of Cthulhu, and look forward to seeing player characters test their physical and psychological limits. My playstyle puts the spotlight on player choice, cleverness, and creativity. I do voiceacting and physical performances, leaving the camera on whenever possible. Ambient music and a soundboard allow even more creeping horror into the game. You can expect unsettling strangeness, a sprawling mystery, and dangerous combat steeped in the weird and unnatural.

Safety

How Caleb | The Gentle GM creates a safe table

For safety tools, you can expect: 1. The X Card hard pauses the session. No explanation needed. 2. Open Door: Step away or leave without penalty. 3. Content Warnings: These are in the listing. Any questions? 4. Rating: I'm expecting an R game that includes violence, psychological horror, and widespread endangerment. 5. Lines: What content do we want to exclude altogether? 6. Veils: What content do we want to fade to black? 7. Fast forward/Rewind: Jump ahead or revisit due to sensitive content. This is a mature content with sensitive material. While I have run these kinds of modules before, availability of safety tools and implementation of Lines & Veils is valuable for maintaining ongoing player consent in increasingly dangerous settings and around sensitive topics.
