About the adventure

Experience the thrill of a first adventure in Dungeon Crawl Classics (DCC). Take your level zero mob of fameless hopefuls into danger and see who makes it out from a zero to hero. What is a funnel like? -Character Creation: Players start with multiple randomly generated characters, often peasants or commoners. Level zero, one and all. -High Stakes: The goal is to survive a deadly adventure into a dangerous location, where many characters are likely to perish. those who live to the end level up to become real deal DCC characters. -Unique Mechanics: Emphasizes random character traits and abilities, adding unpredictability. -Group Play: Encourages teamwork as players navigate challenges together with their characters. -Fun and Humor: Level zero life is cheap and there is range of experience from horror to humor along with some great "No Way" heroic survival moments. About me

I value player expression and choices in collaborative experience building. I like to set the table for company, but what makes it an event is what all the people who pull up a chair bring to the table. I believe "Rule of Cool" is our friend. When it comes to making way for the awesome and memorable, I lean into a "Yes and" style of play. I've run games for all ages and can adjust content to suit younger players. I'm also experienced with corporate clients and am happy to tailor a session to your company needs. The games I offer provide opportunities for player skill to shine. Your creativity is not in "the build. It's in how you play not what you play. I believe in leaving consequences like injury and death on the table. I also believe that adventures are challenging things and that can include the unknown and the monstrous. Your choices and reactions to situations beyond your control, along with your use of the tools you have in the moment, are what really count. If you want to challenge yourself as a player by playing imperfect characters, doing dangerous things and snatching victory from the maw of doom, we should talk. What I don't do: - Adversarial GM or power gamer play styles. - Sexual Content. - Tolerate disrespect to myself or others at the table. - Real world politics or drama in game

Character creation

Creating your character

All players will be issued a group of 3-4 (depending on number of players) randomly generated level zero characters.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

You will need to join a the game discord and be able to send and receive sound. "Gaming" Headsets with mics are highly recommended.

What Skulliver brings to the table

We will be playing out of the Foundry VTT and I'll provide all we need in that application. Depending on the adventure there may be ambient sounds for some environments. I lean into rule of cool and encouraging a "yes and / no but" approach is part of having fun in a more old school inspired game. I tend to do voices for characters and NPCs. I encourage players who enjoy doing that to do so. Since funnels see players controlling small groups, voices may be a bot of a strain and funnels, being as they are comedy + horror chipper shredders for level zero, are not the best place to invest heavily into characters.

Safety

How Skulliver creates a safe table

Our main tools are: Luxton Technique: People are free to discuss their triggers at any moment with freedom and without opposition. Luxton Technique happens during game. In this Luxton Technique usage, a participant can pause play to discuss the content that makes them uncomfortable. They are given the space to state their needs for the group going forward, and might call for a break. Play then proceeds based on the stated needs and requests of the initiator. Open Door: While many safety tools are developed with the hope that a group can avoid or work through triggering subject matter, sometimes a person just needs to step away. The Open Door tool is just that; there is an established policy that anyone can take a break from the game at any time. No questions asked, no judgment, the door is open for you to step out and take a breather.
