About the adventure

The ancient and forgotten halls of Ku'h Buldar lay dormant for years. It's halls echo of its glory days gone past, remembered only in myth and legend. Until one faithful day a Dwarven prospector stumbled upon the ruined gate of the lost civilization. After that the rest followed, the prospectors, adventurers, settlers and thus the community grew. Guilds were created. Daily ventures became a norm. Gold, riches and some artefacts were retrieved but there were more to be found. You, a young strapping dwarf eager for glory sign up in a guild. Get assigned to a group and begin your fist decent. This game is for the dwarf enthusiast and short king lovers. The setting is going to be a little gritty but still lighthearted at times. Will be using some homebrew rules for items, classes and species. The main species will of course be The dwarf. Gnomes are also allowed. NO TALL FOLK HERE!!! Will be discussing much more details on session zero character creation, the vibes of the setting and much more. Session 0 is free.

About me

Your friendly neighborhood DM here. Favorite activities: meeting new people, rolling dice, giving players "character development" on frequent basis. All jokes aside, Hi! I am Hjonker, you can call me dude or just DM. I am indeed a Forever DM(but I kinda love it). Have been playing on tabletop for a while and have ran a few good chunk(around 15+ and some ongoing) of campaigns in my local games bar. I am always eager to meet new people and set on new adventures and experience exhilarating stories with them.

Character creation

Creating your character

Character creation will happen on session 0. We will be using the news 2024 rules for this campaign and will be running it on roll20. Since we all going to be Playing as dwarfs main focus is going to be on the origins of the characters. We will mainly be using the origins and feats associated from the players handbook 2024. Suggestions are welcome if you have a unique concept for a character. I am more than willing to cook something interesting up. For worldbuilding aspect in this settlement there is going to be places designated for worship. Mostly dwarven gods such as Moradin, Abbaroth, Gorm, etc. but also some unique points of worship such as worshipping the old tunnels itself as a omnipotent deity. Significant part of characters identity is also going to be the guild they will be associated with. Depending on that they will get different benefits in shops, connections tools and quests. All of this will be discussed in much more detail on session zero.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

* Preparation wise you will need discord for communication. * Roll20 account for the VTT. * DnD beyond account could be used if you prefer it. In that case thought please have Beyond 20 chrome extension installed and ready to link to the character sheet to roll20. Other than that polish your axes, braid up your beards and fill up your tankards

What Hjonker donker brings to the table

The game will have more of a gritty vibe, but also will be a little light hearted at times. Will be heavy on exploration and dungeon delving. Combat will be more tactical and dramatic at times. Overall rule of cool applies but will be sticking to rules as written majority at time. Somewhat heavy on the roleplay(well, we will be dwarfing a lot or so is intended). Character voices are welcome and encouraged. As love doing voices and sound effects(to the best of my ability). There will be ambient music at times(most of the times) and fun sound effects as well I like to utilize at times.

Homebrew rules

Drinking health potion is a bonus action. As bonus action you roll the potions allocated die and take the result. As an action you may heal up the maximum you can roll on the potion die: Bon. action ->roll to heal 2d4+2 Action -> heal 2d4+2 max roll = 10 Death saves are rolled privately between the DM and the player. Will be implementing some minorly homebrewed weapons, items, gear in orderly dwarven engineering fashion.

How Hjonker donker creates a safe table

We will generally go over likes and donts before we delve in this campaign. Any triggers, phobias, off table topics. If anything comes up during the campaign that was not mentioned perhaps in session zero or if any players are feeling uncomfortable we can stop take a small brake and discuss it in private or within the group depending on what the player prefers. We will have discussions of the game and any of the issues after every game to make some points and adjustments if necessary. In any case there will be an opportunity to voice out your concerns please do not hesitate to what so ever. Our goal is to have fun and have a good time.
