About the adventure
The peaceful village of Elmore has existed unperturbed for centuries thanks to the magic of the Lure, an ancient spell located deep within the Plover Caves. Established by Hylaeus the Forest Mage, its draws the dangerous monster from far and wide into the miles of caverns beneath the regions. While this does make the Plover Caves monster riddled death traps, it’s not without its perks. Elmore had adapted to the unique opportunity and long ago began the annual festival of the Beast Feast. Each year for decades a great gathering of adventurers from far and wide came together to plumb the depths and gather what foodstuff they could from the monsters beneath and bring them back above for all those who answered the call. This tradition held until a year when the danger became too great. Some new breed of evil was hunting down those in the caves and the death toll was so extraordinary that the Beast Feast was abolished. Centuries passed and Elmore normalized into an idyllic village in the current times. Free of conflict from above or below, the village has grown docile. A mindset that will be utterly changed when Mayor Dougle is ambushed my monsters and injured severely. It’s up to the gastronauts, our fellows who upheld their ancient traditions of culinary combat, to investigate and explore the local area and the caves beneath to see why monsters are coming above ground for the first time in centuries. This campaign is a cozy fun romp using the Daggerheart system to explore both the monster infested caves below and the lives of our characters. Both will develop as we play to find out how the world has become the deadly goofy mess it is now. Inspired by the like of Delicious in Dungeon, Monster Hunter and One Piece; comedy, action and adventure will blend together in an unforgettable experience. We will be focusing far more on the feast part as well with this particular campaign, with the narrative inputs I wish to add being a vast cooking competition as a side plot and using monster from the Monster Hunter franchise as the majority of the beasts, the pixel art for which will be provided by the talented Egg3ggEgg. If you want to play in a campaign where you can go from laughing to fighting for your life to creating the most bizarre and delicious meals your mind can create in a group of like minded folks, this is the place for you to be!

About me
Welcome! If you’ve reached this page, then you have reached the deep end. Don’t worry! We have cookies, tequila, and a strong possibility of making fond memories. Since I was a wee lad of dairyland, I’ve been pouring over any ttrpg tome I could get my grubby little mitts on. It mattered not if it was early dnd 3.5 or a questionable supplement of World of Darkness, I would devour its knowledge for myself. Once I reached adulthood, I was taken up on my offer to run a homebrew Wild West pathfinder campaign. It only lasted a few weeks but from then on I was hooked. I’ve been DMing for 13 years with the occasional opportunity to be a player. Everyone is welcome to my games, no exceptions. I love this hobby, and I wish to bring that love to anyone willing to try and accept it.

Creating your character
We will gather for session zero and go through Daggerheart’s in depth character creation process using Foundry. We will be beginning at level 1 and using the modifications of the Beast Feast Campaign frame. This mostly means alternate beginning equipment and creating characters in the context of curiously strong cooks rather than full blown adventurers. Access to the core rulebook is useful but not needed, all of the info is already on foundry. While the idea of Elmore, the caverns beneath, and the use of the Monster Hunter franchise for beasts are already established, details such as biomes and population will be created both at session zero and as we roleplay. Much of the fun that Daggerheart supports is finding where the fiction goes and how the group fills the world together.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
Players will need access to Discord for voice chat and Fourndy for our VTT. Once joined on here, message me for the invite to the server we will use for the campaign.
What Thomaturge brings to the table
I will be bringing the use of Foundry, ambient music and a bevy of character voices as well as over a decade of experience with ttrpgs. While our characters may portray themselves in a myriad of ways, I myself lean into comedic moments quite often but not so much as to stifle player choice. We will take care to respect the monster, animals and people of the setting, but many moments of nature are not self concious. A majestic feline beast can go from staring into the distance with the sun providing and amber glow to their mane to licking their own butt the next. The rules of the Daggerheart system allow for much wiggle room when it comes to how things are interpreted. If we find a snag in the rules we don't like, we will change it as we see fit.

How Thomaturge creates a safe table
I’m going to run a Session Zero we’ll make characters and our pack, go over triggers and see if we need to expand on the content warnings going forward. After each session we will perform aftercare. Intense combat and darker themes may come up, so we will check in at the end of session and see how everyone is fairing. I will be trying out stars and wishes this campaign to enhance the player experience and have some player input for the course of the campaign.
