About the adventure
Venture into the world of Dungeons & Dragons with this classic introductory adventure set in the Forgotten Realms. Beginning near the sleepy frontier town of Phandalin, your party will search for your missing friend, Gundren Rockseeker, and uncover the secrets of the mysterious Lost Mine of Phandelver. Along the way, you will face off against rival factions, hidden dangers, and choices that shape the fate of the region. Powerful forces are searching for the mine’s riches, and your choices will determine who controls its future. This campaign is designed especially for new players and will focus on learning the rules, developing your character, and discovering what kind of adventurer you want to be. Challenges can be approached through roleplay, clever problem-solving, diplomacy, or combat. No prior experience is required. This campaign comes from the Lost Mine of Phandelver starter book by Wizards of the Coast, but I will be homebrewing some elements to help it better fit our story. I tailor each game to the group’s interests and playstyle. After discussing what kind of story and tone excites you most, I will shape the adventure to fit your style. Whether you are looking for a lighthearted, whimsical adventure, a dark mystery, or a classic heroic adventure, this is the place to start! NOTE: At my table, diversity, equality, and inclusion are non-negotiable. If you support racism, transphobia, homophobia, misogyny, ableism, or any other form of oppressive hate, this is not the table for you.

About me
Welcome, adventurers! My name is Sean, I’m a GM who loves nothing more than collaborating with players to tell stories that are immersive and dramatic yet whimsical and heartfelt. New players looking to explore the world of D&D? Veterans looking for a new adventure? All are welcome! I am committed to ensuring all players feel safe and comfortable as they explore new worlds and live out their fantasies. I run character-driven games where the choices you make matter and the world adapts to your playstyle, personal preferences, and character choices. I especially love bringing new players into this wonderful world of collaborative storytelling.

Creating your character
We'll be making characters together during our first introductory session (our session 'zero'). If this is your first time making a character, I'm happy to create a character sheet for you based on your input, or we can walk through the steps together. If you feel comfortable making your own character, I'm happy to step back and let you handle it. All players will start at level 1, so feel free to come with ideas for the kind of adventurer you want to play, and we will iron out the details together!
What to expect
Preparing for the session
Players do not need to have any experience or have read any D&D materials beforehand, though it will be helpful to watch a few videos online about the basic premise of D&D. Additionally, you will need to join my Discord server for voice chat and create an account for Owlbear Rodeo (https://www.owlbear.rodeo/), a virtual tabletop website where we will have our battle maps. We will go over everything else that needs to be done in our first session 0!
What Sean R. brings to the table
I will provide you with engaging music, ambience, and imagery in every session, and the most sincere attempt at immersive character voices I can muster. I am 100% a 'Rule of Cool' GM. The rules are meant to make our story better, not slow it down. That being said, I am well-versed in the official rules, and as a beginner-aimed campaign, I will be teaching these rules as we go!
Homebrew rules
Overall, we will be following Dungeons & Dragons 5e (2024) rules, but we will discuss homebrew rules together in our Session 0.

How Sean R. creates a safe table
We will establish boundaries, sometimes referred to as Lines and Veils, for content we individually want to keep out of our game entirely (lines) and things we are okay with having if they're only referenced in passing or fade to black (veils). These boundaries will be established privately through an RPG Consent Checklist sheet that I will send out before our Session 0. During our Session 0, I will anonymously communicate our collective boundaries to the whole party, and we will continue to revisit them as needed throughout the campaign.
