About the adventure

Wonders await you in the ruined city of Drakkenheim. You have heard tales of abandoned treasures, holy relics, and arcane secrets, all waiting to be claimed by brave adventurers. Those tales tell of the eldritch horrors that await within the mystical haze surrounding the city. However, you may find that the nobles and clergy spearheading the exploration of the city are even more dangerous to those who stand in the path of their ambitions. Prepare to explore a city ravaged by the strike of a strange magical meteor. You will need to navigate the politics of the different factions all struggling for control, as they may prove vital allies or dangerous enemies. Your decisions will shift the balance and decide the fate of Drakkenheim, so choose carefully! This is no clear-cut battle between good and evil, and every faction will have reasons to side with and against them.

About me

Hi, I'm Daniel(they/them) and I've been playing and running RPGs ever since I found the Basic D&D set at 8 years old. Since then, I've run campaigns in every edition of D&D, Pathfinder 1e and 2e, Shadowrun, World of Darkness, FATE, and GURPS. I especially enjoy open-ended scenarios that allow players to find new and creative solutions to problems. I am a former math teacher and ran an after-school D&D club. I have spent a lot of time teaching new players and am excited to introduce you to the games I love, whether that means helping you find the most interesting ways to build a character, or doing the math so you don't have to! In particular, I am used to running games for LGBTQ+ and neurodivergent players, and strive to make my games accessible to everyone.

Character creation

Creating your character

We will create characters together at session zero. You're welcome to brainstorm ideas ahead of time, of course! Players joining the campaign after that can have a one-on-one to build their character with me if you need assistance! We are starting at level 1, using the standard point buy and Tasha's rules on ability scores. Races will include those from the PHB and many options from MotM. Optional rules for characters will generally not be used, so ask in advance if any of those rules are vital to your character concept. There are backgrounds designed for this campaign which you are welcome to use, but classic backgrounds from the PHB and SCAG will also be available.

Safety

How Daniel creates a safe table

This game, while using the 5e rules, will be significantly darker in tone than the average D&D game. We will not use an alignment system, as there is no clear good and evil in this world. Lines and veils will be discussed and agreed upon in session zero.
