About the adventure

🗻 Climb a mountain! 🦤 Encounter harpies! ✨ Help a family down on their luck! Obojima is a very cozy, laidback fantasy setting for 5e from the makers at 1985 Games. It's heavily inspired by Studio Ghibli and Legend of Zelda; while there's plenty of adventure to be had, the emphasis is more on exploration and mysteries, and less on visceral combat scenes. Players will benefit more by NPC interaction or negotiation, rather than immediately drawing weapons. Here, players will run through A Great Offering, a one-shot focused on mountaineering and mysticism. There are monsters, strange occurrences on the mountain, and shady guides with whom to contend. Players can make friends at the village, explore the mountain, talk to local spirits, and make a family feel at peace. It's low-stakes, lighthearted fun in a world that feels like the hometown you always wanted.

About me

Welcome! I'm DM Lacara, from the DM Roundtable on YouTube and the Enclave Discord server. I've played TTRPGs for 15 years, and have been DMing a full homebrew world 5e campaign for almost 2 years. These days, I prefer running Enclave missions: ask me about the system! I love light-hearted, cozy settings with lots of fun side quest potential, allowing my players to explore and bond without a sense of impending doom. Epic stories don't have to be stressful stories, and character development doesn't have to imply trauma; join my table and leave refreshed!

Character creation

Creating your character

Bring your favorite level 3 character! If you have a really wild homebrew race/class, run it by me when you register so I can make sure it's balanced before game time. Please stay away from characters that are evil-aligned or have unnecessarily dark personalities. Obojima is a generally kind and relaxed setting, and the table will be run as such.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Games will run with audio/video on Discord and battles in Roll20. I will share links for my Discord server and Roll20 after sign-up.

What Lacara brings to the table

As a GM, I run much more to the "Rule of Cool" end of the spectrum. My setups in Roll20 are not fancy, but my NPCs are memorable and distinct. If the table is comfortable with it, I'm also happy to change some of the major combat mechanics to make battles feel more immersive. 5e combat is the most boring mechanic I've ever encountered, and there's simple ways to pick up the pace, encourage teamwork, and minimize downtime.

Safety

How Lacara creates a safe table

My games are universally PG-13 and I stay away from dark themes in general. However, if anyone has a topic or theme that does not fall into an obvious category (e.g., a fear of carrots), please send me a message when you register. Player aggression is not allowed in-game or at the table. I have a zero tolerance policy on this, and anyone who I deem to be acting in an uncivil manner will be removed from the game.
