Creating your character
Players will be create their characters in D&D Beyond, level 10 (or level 3, if all players agree to do the prequel one-shot at that level, "Nest of The Eldritch Eye") before session 1. Standard Array or Point Buy, standard starting equipment. I'll discuss with players before playing about choosing some magical items they are allowed to start with. Core 2024 PHB or the original PHB are fine. I don't mind most of the splatbooks for addition class options. Typically, I don't allow homebrew, but if you have a strong character concept, I will consider it.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
You will need Discord and a decent microphone, and a noise-free environment. I must stress that the ability for myself and other players to hear and understand you during the game is paramount for a good gameplay experience. Using a webcam is entirely optional at each player's discretion. Please join my Discord, and D&D Beyond campaign when you get the links.
What Dungeon Damian brings to the table
I bring Foundry VTT with detailed (sometimes animated) maps and backgrounds and custom tokens to help set the scene. I use music for both ambience and combat, to help players feel the atmosphere of the moment. I pride myself on weaving scene and character descriptions that help players see, hear and feel the world around them. I bring all of the necessary (and many additional) official rulebooks for D&D5E. I play a rules-light table, with a focus on story-telling and player interaction with the world. The mechanics are a tool to build a narrative, first and foremost. So when the mechanics bog down the story, you can expect me to simplify them as necessary to even a single roll of an appropriate skill to determine what happens.

How Dungeon Damian creates a safe table
PLEASE NOTE: This campaign covers a number of content types that some players may find triggering or uncomfortable. Please review the content warnings thoroughly to be aware of what you may encounter during gameplay. Session 0 will be spent discussing players hard and soft limits, potential content throughout the campaign, and expectations regarding the harsher elements of the setting, ensuring that every player is heard and their needs met, so that no triggers or similar objectionable content appears during gameplay. This is an open table where players are always allowed, and strongly encouraged to take a step away if they feel the need or desire to separate themselves from the game. Players are always welcome to take time off from, and/or return to the game when they feel comfortable. Players are welcome and encouraged to bring their personal requests for content removal or avoidance to me privately or publicly as they find comfortable. Any changes can be made at any time if you find the content filters set in place early on aren't suitable for you. Remember that this story doesn't revolve around any specific content, it revolves around you. A break or two of anywhere from 5-10 minutes is typical at my table. Players are welcome to ask for more, or less, as they deem suitable to their needs.
