About the adventure

⚔️ Defend a frontier town from goblins, bandits, and dark forces 🗺️ Explore ancient ruins, hidden caves, and lost strongholds 💎 Unearth forgotten treasure and long-lost secrets Journey to the rugged frontier town of Phandalin, where trouble is never far from the road. What begins as a simple job quickly draws you into a growing threat from goblins, criminal gangs, and a mysterious power lurking in the shadows. As you explore the surrounding wilds and forgotten ruins, you’ll earn the trust of the townsfolk, make allies and enemies, uncover powerful secrets, and decide the fate of the region. Lost Mine of Phandelver is a classic D&D adventure filled with danger, discovery, and heroics. It is ideal for brand new players and still highly enjoyable for experienced adventurers, featuring all three pillars of D&D: combat, roleplay, and exploration. About the Game 🕒 2–2.5 hour sessions 🖥️ Played on Foundry VTT 🎧 Discord for audio New and experienced players are equally welcome. If you’re new to D&D, I can provide pre-generated characters so you can jump straight in, or I’m happy to guide you step-by-step through creating your own. If you’re an experienced player, you’ll have full freedom to build the character you want within the campaign setting. The campaign will run from Level 1 to Level 5, taking you from humble beginnings to true heroes of the frontier. What You Can Expect 🎵 Immersive music and soundscapes 🗺️ High-quality digital maps and custom scenes 📚 Access to all core D&D Beyond material (shared at the table) ✨ A welcoming, supportive table focused on story, character, and fun I use Foundry VTT with enhanced maps, scenes, and lighting to bring the world to life, alongside atmospheric music to set the tone. You’ll also have access to my full collection of official WotC digital content via D&D Beyond during the campaign. We’ll use a private Discord server with dedicated channels for the group and individual players, making it easy to chat, plan, and stay immersed between sessions.

About me

A long term fantasy geek. I played a lot of heroquest and warhammer as a kid, moving on to computer RPG games. And then finding D&D later in life. I’m inspired by live play shows such as Critical Role and High Rollers. I spend my spare time watching various DnD streaming shows (Matt Colville, Sly Flourish and Ginni Di as well as reading through the various kickstarters I’ve backed looking for my next great idea! I’ve been running games online for 5 years now. I enjoy bringing new players to the table, challenging experienced players and generally just telling stories! I own a lot of content on DnD Beyond as well as quite a bit of 3rd party content which I share with my campaigns. I run a friendly and welcoming table everyone is welcome regardless of background. I won’t tolerate bigotry of any kind. I believe TTRPGs should be a safe space for everyone.

Character creation

Creating your character

Pre Gens are available Or you can dive into the my extensive library on DND Beyond and create a character with my support. We'll be playing using the 2024 rules.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

You'll need a DND Beyond account for character creation and levelling up (but your core character sheet will exist in Foundry VTT) You'll need a laptop or PC with a decent internet connection (min 10mbps) You'll need a microphone or headset so that we can speak to each other. Webcam is optional - I'll have mine on as I find it easier to chat this way. But you don't have to.

What Garry brings to the table

What I Provide as Your GM 🎭 Character-driven roleplay inspired by Critical Role–style storytelling 🎵 Atmospheric music, ambience, and cinematic scenes ⚔️ Tactical but fast-moving combat with heroic moments 📖 Patient, supportive guidance for new players 🧙 Run by a proud fantasy geek who loves the genre I’m a big fan of Critical Role and narrative-driven D&D, and that strongly influences my GM style. I enjoy leaning into character moments, emotional beats, and meaningful choices, while still keeping the game fun, approachable, and never self-indulgent. Expect a balance of drama, humour, tension, and heroics – very much in the spirit of modern actual-play D&D. I use character voices and roleplay to bring NPCs to life (without making things awkward or cringey), and I put real effort into making each town, villain, and ally feel distinct. I’m also a long-time fantasy geek – if it has dragons, ancient ruins, cursed artefacts, or heroic last stands, I’m into it – and that passion feeds directly into the energy and detail I bring to the table. I use ambient music throughout sessions to enhance immersion: tavern chatter, forest ambience, dungeon echoes, and intense combat tracks. Combined with Foundry’s dynamic lighting, maps, and scenes, this creates a cinematic feel without slowing the game down. Combat in my games is clear, fair, and exciting. I enjoy tactical play and positioning, but I avoid unnecessary grind. I generally run Rules as Written for consistency, but I absolutely embrace the Rule of Cool when a creative idea or heroic moment deserves it. New players will find a welcoming, judgement-free table where no question is silly and no one is rushed. I’m happy to explain rules, help with abilities, and guide you through the game as you learn. Experienced players can expect consistency, respect for system knowledge, and room for deeper character development. Above all, I aim to provide a friendly, inclusive, story-rich table where everyone gets a moment in the spotlight and leaves excited for the next session.
