Cthulhu in the Mists
Portals blink into existence without warning, gateways to haunted echoes, crumbling gods, and nullified space. It was late in the day when it started.

About the adventure
At first, everything seems normal. The torch burns with a steady flame, its light warm and reassuring. Cobblestones gleam with recent rain. Windows are dark but intact. Somewhere, water drips in a patient, ordinary rhythm. Then something misaligns. A figure crosses the street ahead of you, coat, hat, posture all unremarkable, and vanishes before reaching the opposite curb. You blink. The space where they should be is empty, as if they were never there at all. The street stretches. Not dramatically. Not enough to panic. Just enough that your footsteps feel insufficient. Each step lands where it should, but the destination refuses to draw closer. Doorways repeat themselves. A wrought iron sign creaks past twice, then a third time, though you are certain you never turned around. The torchlight wavers, not from wind, but from pressure. Shadows bend inward, curving toward something that is not visible, as though the darkness itself is being pulled tight around an unseen mass. Angles feel wrong. Corners seem to watch. You notice the silence last. No insects. No distant voices. Even the drip of water has stopped. Sound feels absorbed, swallowed by the stones beneath your feet. When you breathe, it seems too loud, like an intrusion. That is when you realize the world is not changing. It is being reinterpreted. Reality is folding itself around a presence too vast to fully arrive, brushing against your street the way a fingertip drags across water, creating ripples, distortions, echoes. The city remains because it must, but its geometry is no longer its own. The thing twisting the world around you does not need to be seen. It is thinking nearby. And for a terrible, fleeting moment, the street feels longer because it is trying, clumsily, imperfectly, to make room for something that does not belong in three dimensions, yet insists on passing through anyway. Your torch still burns. But the light no longer feels like protection. It feels like an invitation.

Creating your character
Character Creation Guidelines Point Buy System: Use the 33-point buy system to generate your character's ability scores. This means you have 33 points to allocate among your ability scores (Strength, Dexterity, Constitution, Intelligence, Wisdom, and Charisma) based on the point cost rules found in the Player's Handbook or any official D&D source. A max of 20 and a minimum of 3 after the racial bonuses. Official Sources: You can use any content from all official Dungeons & Dragons 5th Edition sourcebooks published by Wizards of the Coast. This includes the Player's Handbook, Dungeon Master's Guide, Monster Manual, and all supplementary books and adventures like Xanathar's Guide to Everything, Tasha's Cauldron of Everything, etc. Homebrew and Third-Party Content: You are welcome to use homebrew (fan-created) and third-party content (published by creators other than Wizards of the Coast). However, any homebrew or third-party content must be reviewed and approved by me before you include it in your character.
