About the adventure

The Wild Beyond the Witchlight begins at a traveling carnival that appears only once every few years, offering color, wonder, and quiet unease in equal measure. What should be a place of simple joy hides something amiss beneath the music and lights. From these first strange encounters, the adventure leads players beyond the familiar world and into the Feywild, a realm of living stories, shifting rules, and emotions made real. This campaign is a journey through the Feywild that emphasizes roleplay, social encounters, and creative problem solving. Combat is rare, and many conflicts are shaped by bargains, promises, and clever choices rather than violence. NPCs are whimsical, emotional, and unpredictable, and how players interact with them can have lasting effects. The tone balances wonder and charm with melancholy and consequence, inviting characters to engage with themes of loss, identity, and what it means to reclaim something taken from you. Players who enjoy character-driven stories, imaginative settings, and a lighter tone with real emotional weight will find much to explore here. The Feywild is beautiful but unforgiving, playful yet sincere, and it rewards curiosity, kindness, and clever thinking. This is an adventure about navigating a magical world where words matter, intentions carry weight, and not everything lost can be recovered in the same shape it was taken.

About me

I remember being invited to play in my first game of D&D several years ago. I immediately fell in love with the magic of tabletop RPG's. I had always wanted to try playing, but had struggled to do so for the longest time. When I finally found a group with which to play, I was blessed with a truly outstanding dungeon master. He intricately weaved the storytelling and gameplay elements of dungeons and dragons in a was that was nothing short of beautiful. In no time at all, I was hooked. That group eventually broke up when the dungeon master moved away. But I'll never forget that truly fantastic experience I was treated to. Since then, I've taken it on myself to try to perfect the art of dungeon mastering and to bring that experience to as many prospective adventures as possible. Now I've taken the next step and brought my Dungeon Mastering skills to StartPlaying. It is my goal to share my vision of what D&D can really be with as many of you as I possibly can.

Character creation

Creating your character

There will be a brief session 0 before the campaign. I will be available to assist with character creation at that event. Additionally, I will be available for 1-on-1 meetings for players that cannot make session 0 or who need additional assistance.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Prior to being approved, players will recieve a complimentary consultation to ensure this campaign will be a good fit for them. Before the first session, there will be a brief session 0 to set standards and expectations. Please have accounts for Discord, Roll20, and D&D Beyond. Also, please have all character creation finished before session time.

Safety

How Brian creates a safe table

I make a point of meticulously setting expectations prior to game time so that everyone is on the same page as far as what to expect. I do also have an open door policy at any time and have a zero tolerance policy for rude behavior between players. Additionally, to protect more introverted players, I utilize DMing techniques intended to prevent them from being overshadowed or left out by more outgoing players.
