About the adventure

The Story Begins... You were hired for a simple job: guard a supply wagon traveling to a small frontier town. It was supposed to be easy money and a quiet trip. But the wilderness is full of secrets. When you find the road blocked and your employer missing, your routine delivery turns into a high-stakes rescue mission. You’ll have to track a band of raiders back to their hidden lair, navigate dangerous traps, and work together to save the day. Will you remain a simple traveler, or will you rise to become a legendary hero? Designed for the Absolute Beginner! Have you always wanted to try Dungeons & Dragons but felt overwhelmed by the big books and complex rules? This game is for you! This is a "Learning Game," meaning I will teach you everything you need to know as we play. There is no homework and no need to buy anything. I provide all the digital books and tools. Whether you’ve watched people play online or have never even seen a 20-sided die, you are welcome at this table. What to Expect at the Table. As a Dungeon Master with over 10 years of experience, my goal is to make you feel like the star of an epic fantasy movie. Our sessions are a mix of "theatre of the mind" storytelling and exciting tactical combat. We use a streamlined digital system where you can roll your dice and see the map with just one click. I favor the "Rule of Cool"—if you have a creative idea, I’ll help you find a way to try it! A Safe and Welcoming Space. We play in a friendly, "PG-13" environment where cooperation is the key to success. This is an inclusive space where everyone is welcome to explore, roleplay, and learn at their own pace. You don't need a character ready to go; we can pick a hero for you or build one together in minutes. All you need is a microphone, a free account, and a sense of adventure. The journey starts here!

About me

I’m a husband, father, and lifelong gamer who has been navigating dungeons since the days of AD&D 2e. For the last 10 years, I’ve been a dedicated "Forever DM," running 5e regularly since before the pandemic. I especially love welcoming new players to the table. My mission is to make your entry into the hobby as smooth as possible by utilizing D&D Beyond to handle the heavy lifting of character creation and mechanics, leaving us more time for the story.

Creating your character

Character Creation: Ready-to-Play Heroes! No Homework Required! To make your first adventure as smooth as possible, I have a library of professionally built, Level 1 premade characters ready for you to choose from. These heroes are balanced, effective, and designed specifically to work well together as a team. How it Works: Pick Your Archetype: Whether you want to be a frontline warrior, a sneaky scout, or a powerful spellcaster, I have a pre-built sheet waiting for you. Make it Yours: Even though the "math" is done, the personality is all yours! You can choose your hero’s name, their appearance, and how they interact with the world. Instant Access: Once you join the game, I will provide a link to our D&D Beyond Campaign. You’ll simply click a button to claim your character, and you’ll be ready to roll! Can I build my own character? Absolutely! While I provide ready-to-play heroes for everyone, you are more than welcome to bring your own vision to the table. If you would like to create a custom character from scratch, please reach out to me via Discord or StartPlaying messenger. I have a specific set of simple guidelines to ensure your hero fits perfectly into the story. I’m happy to walk you through the process or send you a quick "cheat sheet" to help you build your hero before we play!

What D. Robert (EMTMAN) brings to the table

This oneshot is the first chapter of the Lost Mine of Phandelver module. Players who finish this oneshot and want to continue the adventure are welcome to discuss that with me. What I Provide: A High-Stakes Frontier Defense Trouble in Triboar is a classic "defend the town" scenario that thrives on urgency and heroism. Here is what you can expect from my GM style during this one-shot: High-Energy Action: This adventure is a race against time. I use fast-paced, cinematic descriptions and a pulse-pounding ambient soundtrack to make the giant-sized threat feel truly massive. Memorable NPCs: Even in a one-shot, the people of Triboar matter. I provide unique voices and personalities for the local townsfolk, making it clear exactly who and what you are fighting to protect. Tactical "Rule of Cool": Combat in this session can be intense, involving large-scale movement through the town. While I keep the rules clear, I embrace the Rule of Cool—if you want to use the environment to your advantage (like dropping a tavern sign on an orc), I’m all for it! My Table Expectations Because one-shots move quickly, clear communication and a positive attitude are key. I follow these core principles: The Golden Rule & Wheaton’s Law: We are here to have a blast together. Treat everyone with kindness, and remember that we’re a team working toward a heroic finish. PG/PG-13 Rating: This game stays within a "PG-13" boundary—exciting fantasy action and peril without crossing into excessive gore or inappropriate themes. Respect the Spotlight: Every hero gets their moment! Please don't tell others how to play their character. I make sure every player has the agency to make their own choices in the heat of battle. The Hard Stop: Your safety is my priority. If any content makes you uncomfortable, just ask to stop. We will pause, adjust the scene, and keep the fun moving in a direction everyone enjoys.
