About the adventure

⚓ Hunt monsters across a dark, cold Sea of Fangs ⚓ Smuggle cursed cargo through blockades and rival fleets ⚓ Confront the horrors unleashed by greed and hubris. ⚓ Decide the price of lesser evil as the world slides towards ruin. North of the Old World, where the sea freezes and the gods listen too closely, there lies a stretch of water no sailor would cross without a will already written. Ambitious princes, greedy traders, aspiring raider-kings, and zealous witch-cults all claw at the same cold horizon, chasing lost riches, forbidden relics, and rumors of power buried beneath the waves. Every port is a powder keg, and every voyage risks running straight into something that should have stayed drowned. Steel, salt and gunpowder are the holy trinity of those who ply the Sea of Fangs, for nothing here is easy. Storms carry whispers. Shipwrecks crawl back to the surface. Treasures rot the souls of those who claim them. You will fight horrors, bargain with devils, and decide which evils are worth unleashing when the whole northern world starts sliding toward war, and something far worse than a few undead wakes beneath the ice. The Sea will claim you one way or another, and all that matters is what stories they tell afterwards. So come forth then, me hearties, and make yourselves into legends. If you got the guts, that is.

About me

Greetings from Central Asia! English isn't my first language - but I have over a decade of experience as an interpreter and a tour guide both in English and in German. You (probably) won't have to worry about not being able to understand me on voice chats! :D At present, I run a successful Discord server with multiple tables (and awesome people there!), as well as a few games in-person in Almaty, Kazakhstan.

Character creation

Creating your character

Characters will be created together during Session 0. Should you join the campaign at a later stage, I'll schedule a 1-on-1 with you to help you build your character and advance them up to the group's level.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

You'll need a Discord account and a decent microphone. Preferrably a quiet environment with low background noise for the duration of the session. The only other requirement is signing up to the Forge (the VTT where the game will happen) It is free to create and use as a player. You will also need to join the Discord server where the game is going to happen. You will receive the link to it in the Prep Materials section when you sign up to the game.

What Sergey Sakharov brings to the table

I'll bring a fully set up campaign on Foundry, complete with scenic art, battlemaps and tokens - everything you need to visualise your journey through the Sea of Fangs! The majority of the game takes place in Theater of the Mind, so I will have illustrated scenes, tokens and other visual aids to facilitate your imagination. Battlemaps will be used for complicated tactical scenarios to make sure we're all on the same page! I tend to follow the players' lead in the games. Most of the time my adventures are shaped as "landscapes", with multiple ways to achieve your goals. Railroading is usually not something I do.

Homebrew rules

The game will use modified versions of Age of Umbra and Witherwild campaign frames, as well as some extra setting-specific rules - mostly concerning magic backlash and sailing ships.

Safety

How Sergey Sakharov creates a safe table

Sea of Fangs is a dark, bleak setting. Despair, death, horrors both mundane and eldritch - you can expect that aplenty. That said, there are a few lines that won't be crossed under any circumstances: - Explicit depiction of sexual encounters. They may be hinted at, but never "on screen". - No sexual assault of PCs or NPCs. - Gory naturalistic details of violence will be mostly given "at large". I don't delve into the massive amount of bloody details. We'll go over all Lines & Veils during session 0.
