About the adventure

October 1989, Northern Montana The sleepy town of Harmony Glade finds itself caught in a series of inexplicable events. A forest fire rages out of control with seemingly no end in sight. Worse yet, multiple residents have turned up missing, as if having vanished in thin air. As the thick mist surrounding the Glade tightens its grip, the town sheriff decides it’s time to bring together a special group outside the sphere of the law to investigate these strange, almost supernatural disturbances. Something about this chain of events reminds them of the dark corners of the town’s past, almost as if it has begun repeating itself... Join a group of investigators to explore Harmony Glade as you attempt to understand the mystery hidden within it. Make timely decisions. Question everyone you can. And remember - the clock is always ticking. 💀 Homebrew RP-heavy Investigation Call of Cthulhu 7e campaign 🗺️ Freely explore a town that lives and breathes, maybe literally 🕰️ Ever-advancing plot: npcs have daily schedules, and the story continues to unfold around you

About me

Hey there, adventurer! I'm Jason, aka Gawd Mode, and I’ve been crafting unforgettable tabletop experiences as a D&D Dungeon Master for over a decade. My journey with StartPlaying began in 2022, and since then, I’ve had the privilege of building epic, immersive stories alongside incredible players. Player immersion is my top priority—I make sure every character has a meaningful place in the world we build together. Whether you're a seasoned veteran or brand new to the game, I’ll help you develop rich backstories and weave them seamlessly into the overarching narrative. I believe that every session should be fun, memorable, and full of moments worth sharing years down the line. If you’re looking for a DM who blends storytelling, dynamic encounters, and a touch of homebrew flair, you’ve come to the right place. Let’s roll some dice and create something legendary! I also run a homebrew ttrpg called GACHA GIMMIX, an exciting community-driven, virtual tabletop tactics collect’em all where players construct and customize mechanical models known as Gimmix. GACHA GIMMIX blends strategic gameplay with creative design, as players engage in tactical, turn-based combat on dynamic battlefields. Each Gimmix can be equipped with a variety of modular components, such as armor, weapons, thrusters, and special abilities, allowing for endless combinations and battle strategies. Players compete in intense PvP arenas, testing their creations' strengths and abilities against others. All play session are free! Feel free to come and join our friendly and welcoming Discord community to get game updates, meet other players, and more: https://discord.com/invite/X2DwYYH

Character creation

Creating your character

Character creation will be discussed via Discord during Session 0. Players will be creating a character using the Call of Cthulhu 7th edition ruleset.

The current party

As the thick mist surrounding the Glade tightens its grip, the town sheriff decides it’s time to bring together a special group outside the sphere of the law to investigate these strange, almost supernatural disturbances. You will be a member of this group. Party cohesion, as well as special roles, will be discussed during our session 0 briefing.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

All players require a clear working mic and a stable internet connection. Video is not necessary but always appreciated (it's nice to see the faces of the people you're talking to). All players having a basic understanding of the rules is preferred (though not required), and I will do my best to assist when questions arise. Roll20 as well as Discord account (both free) are necessary. Familiarity with Roll20 encouraged but not required. ==FRIEND REFERRAL PROGRAM== Save on your sessions by referring a friend! By referring someone to come and play along in a campaign that you are a part of, both of you will save on each of your session costs. - Once you invite a friend, for each session you and your friend play, you get a $2 discount and your friend gets a $1 discount. - For your friend, the $1 discount lasts the length of the campaign, even if you're not able to play for a session. - If you invite 3 friends for example, you could get the discount equivalent of one free session PER MONTH. Save big by inviting friends to the party!

Safety

How Jason creates a safe table

During Session 0 we will introduce ourselves, discuss the expectations and general rules of the game, and walk through character creation. We will also use this time to discuss the intro to the campaign story to build player buy-in and help everyone plot out your own character backgrounds + potential character connections. Be aware that the content warnings listed is not exhaustive. Players will find many horror commonalities of The Pine with those of Call of Cthulhu. While we do employ safety tools (seen on the Start Playing adventure page), we do not use X Cards or analogues similar to it. Understand that tabletop horror gaming is meant to pit characters, and sometimes players themselves, against uncomfortable scenarios from the safety of the virtual table using our collective imaginations. Sometimes, however, these scenarios may trigger uncomfortable reminders of our real lives. If you feel strongly opposed to any specific type of horror element, it is imperative that you reach out to the GM so that we can discuss the situation privately. If any of the listed content warnings or those adjacent to them are things you find necessary to avoid, this may not be the game for you.
