About the adventure
https://youtu.be/5kIQgOIZMOQ?si=noC91Fn5Ki6L3J2N A game meant for either beginners or veteran role-players! Using the amazing 3D graphic engine RPG Stories! Join a campaign where warriors wield katanas beneath stained dusters and spell-casting wizards shape eldritch power beneath the brim of their hat. Out here in the Heretic Lands, bizarre gods spring up almost every day, demanding tribute from frightened parishioners. Yet, new settlers arrive on the regular for the lure of the mysterious, floating sky-rock known as arkanite. Those who possess the power of arkanite can produce the great flying machines that will one day dominate the trade lanes! Join this fantasy steam-punk Wild West adventure! The setting, the Heretic Lands, was developed by professional and award-winning game master, Rush Lilavivat. He's the Director of Table Top Panels at DragonCon. He's also an ENnie nominated author and the two-time winner of the top-GM prize at DragonCon. Check out the trailer!

About me
Hey guys! My name is Rush! I'm an award-winning game master and game designer. I also run the TableTop Panels at DragonCon, the largest fantasy / sci-fi convention in the southeastern US. I have been playing role-playing games for 40 years! I am looking forwards to reaching a new audience and bringing wondrous experiences to new groups of people. At the end of the day, it's all about having a good time with other creative folk, using your imagination, and forging life-long bonds.

Creating your character
Characters start at 1st level with the standard 27 point-buy for stats or the standard array. Max hit points at first level, of course. No need to use D&D Beyond unless you want to! Most of the time, we'll use the honor system when it comes to your game statistics.
You can play any species, class or subclass that is in the main 2024 D&D Player's Handbook. Options in expansion books will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
I like to use Zoom to run my games and I use physical dice. I encourage you to do the same when it comes to dice! It is strongly encouraged that you have a web cam so that I can see your face during play. By using a web cam, we can read each other's facial expressions and body language. There is also less temptation for someone to walk away from the game frequently.
What Rush brings to the table
I use an amazing game engine called RPG Stories to create 3D environments (no AI) for us to explore. These environments include animated spell effects, monsters, and stunning reveals! I also use Syrinscape to add music and sound effects to my sessions. If you haven't experienced it, Syrinscape allows you to hit a link and pipe in music to your game along with personalized sound effects. Finally, you should expect a cinematic game full of high action, spell slinging and fun! We will always try to err on the side of fun when it comes to the rules.
Homebrew rules
We will follow the 5e D&D rules from the 2024 edition. There is an addition of a new species for players - the Eladrin. The rules for the Eladrin ancestry are in Mordenkainen's tome of foes.

Safety
How Rush creates a safe table
To keep players safe, especially for a game open to all ages, we will first take note of the ages of all individuals playing. Then, we will go over the game's guidelines. Most of the game will be under a PG-13 guideline in terms of acceptable content. Players who are uncomfortable with any portion of the game can send a private message to the GM, even if it's an "X". Also, the game master will, every other session, do a check-in with player to make sure that game content has provided no triggers and that other players are also not triggering specific issues.
